So if as you say football is a team game and not about individuals, why are you singling out a player for criticism?
I haven’t actually criticised him. He makes mistakes like any player, and made one or two more last night. He's the best keeper for a Pep team, but imo he's not a very good goalkeeper. Simple as that... I think he’s a weak link, that's all.

Learn to accept that some people won't always agree with your opinion. It doesn't mean anything in the real world.

He has saved more PL penalties than Allison. Is he shit as well?

Alisson is exceptional at a lot of other shot-stopping areas to compensate.

Anyway, I presume Ederson has faced a great deal more PL penalties than Alisson so I don't see how that's relevant.

So you think the idea of giving the keeper an award for most clean sheets is nonsense? No reasoning with some people…
Its easier to keep clean sheets if you dont face any shots. The only shot they had on target was from a penalty that was dodgy. Id argue most keepers playing for us would be near the top of the clean sheet table every season

Ederson plays for us because he's a half decent keeper who is great with his feet. I accept that.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

The season he stops playing for us, people will suddenly realise how simple he makes very difficult things look and they’ll start to complain about whoever replaces him not being as good.

On another note, nobody seems to be acknowledging that the first goal came from his ball that put their CB and RB under pressure. Against Villa his pass completion rate was 97%. He has had several games this season where it was 100%. People who say “oh well he’s just passing it short”. Okay. Find me another keeper who can pass it short 40 times a game while being pressed without fucking up once, he’s a victim of his own success because he’s so good he makes something very difficult look very easy.
So, are you saying in the whole of the world there is no other keeper whose distribution is the same or at least similar? The way Pep plays we are clearly never going to play with an old fashioned “feet are for standing on” keeper but if there were keepers out there who were slightly worse with their feet but much better at positioning and saving that would surely be something worth “trading up for” (from the few games Ortega has played he seems a good example)

Doesn’t it depend on what you want from a goalkeeper?

In the traditional sense, maybe he’s not top of the tree, but for the way we play, I can’t see a single goalkeeper better in the world for us my friend. Can you?
My guess is Man City with their extensive database of players throughout the world are more likely to be able to find someone who fits that bill than people who watch City and perhaps catch the odd game on TV. therefore the question is of limited vale. If anybody here can name 5 keepers currently playing in South America without resorting to google I would be astonished, nevermind rating them as well

Soz mate. I’ll refrain from asking peoples opinions in future ;)
