I mean I don't get this criticism at all. Yes, he pointed at that corner as a mind game against Saka, but why is he now actually held to that like he "had to" dive where he pointed? It was always a lottery anyway. Saka could have chosen the other corner as well, there is no rule to follow here just because Ederson tried to intimidate the striker. Isn't the whole mind game strategy to confuse the shot taker? He points to a corner, but he might dive the other way as well and the same goes for the shot taker, he may or may not decide to go for the indicated corner. If Ederson had dived where he pointed, but Saka decided to pick the other way and scored, would people still criticize Ederson "why did he dive where he pointed, wasn't it obvious enough that Saka wouldn't follow his bluf?". This is a lose-lose case for the keeper, he either saves the shot or he doesn't, the mind games played no role at all in this specific instance, because the shot taker and the keeper chose different corners.

Not criticism, just observations on what he did,the surprising thing is that Sakha actually scored, not something he could manage in the Euro final, but that's a different story.

Ederson has not been the same for one reason or another this season,no matter how you dress it up,his distribution,(compared to what we are used to seeing) has been fucking awful, constantly passing out to defenders that most of the time are not expecting it to go to them, going long is not always a bad thing now we have a giant up top waiting for it neither.

That disjointed feel is down to not having a consistent back line, surely that’s not being discounted? The ability to play out is a shadow of itself without Dias, Laporte and stones; the others are no way near that standard, despite being solid defensively, hence the tinkering that has gone on…

I think some of our fanbase are becoming extremely entitled, expecting super human performances year on year, blind that its
Nigh on impossible to sustain; that isn’t aimed at you by the way, just the general consensus observed for a good few of our players;

We sit top, again, with a wank GK, shit defence, geriatric midfield and striker who doesn’t fit our style of play, despite scoring 30+ goals by January..

We’re doomed (:
Wish I could like this more than once
And the point about not having a settled back four, and not having our best ball playing defenders, has been missed by most

Saves in training count about the same as goals in training it's not a reliable measure of how a player will react in a match situation.

Santa Cruz and Jo are the goalscoring equivalent of Ederson goalkeeping.
Believe what you like Ederson is elite
You don’t get to play at the levels both domestically and internationally if you can’t make a save
I couldn’t make the saves he makes in training nor could you
People soon forget the saves he makes to fit the narrative he’s shite
Look at saves away against Leicester and Spurs the guy is top class
Very good at crosses brave an amazing with his feet
I personally wouldn’t swap him
I accept we may have different opinions that’s football for you

I never said he was shite.
He's good at what he does for Pep, but imo he's not a particularly good goalkeeper.

Doesn’t it depend on what you want from a goalkeeper?

In the traditional sense, maybe he’s not top of the tree, but for the way we play, I can’t see a single goalkeeper better in the world for us my friend. Can you?

Keeper at Brentford is a far better shot stopper than Ederson and he is probably not ranked in the top 100 keepers in the world . His distribution and passing is a million miles short of Ederson,s level though so here lies the differential. Brentford,s keeper has refused 3 improved contracts at Brentford so he is off somewhere…….
