31 | Ederson - 2024/25

He's been rubbish this entire season and has killed the narrative that the reason his save percentage is so low is because we face few chances.

Now we're facing a bucket load of chances and he's saving fuck all
I have read some shit on here this last week, including some helmet blaming the giner kit mans departure for our bad run.

But Samuel has taken the sh1t to new and incredible levels.

Samuel , you utter tool!

He‘s generally been good this season - the very least of our issues. But he was poor on the second and third last night.

He’s played well this season, probably our best player. However, no need to come rushing out last night for their goal. If he was going to he needed to take the player with him.

Should also have been quicker if he insisted on coming out. You either stay back in your 6 yard area or you come out the moment you sense danger, but he hesitated to make the decision and that was the death knell.

I think he’s been good at the stuff he’s good at, but he’s always been bad at 1v1s and facing counterattacks and we find ourselves facing more of them than ever.

He doesn’t deserve to be dropped but a part of me would like to see if Ortega would be better in the current situation.

This is a viewpoint thats redundant under Pep. At no point was Ederson ever in his 6 yard area. He's sweeper keeper, his starting position was edge of his area and that's where he should be, he's under strict instructions not to be that far back and there was never the option to retreat.

His hesitation was because he knew he couldn't get to the ball first but then he also knew he was in no position to go backwards either so then had to commit to something he knew he wasn't going to get to or get caught in no mans land. That's always going to happen to sweeper keepers if the ball is good enough, that's just the consequence of playing this way and happens to every keeper that plays that way.

Should’ve wiped out the player for their third at least save the game Ortega can easily fill in.

The first and so far only legitimate argument. Its sound in hindsight but who is to say it saves the game though? 6-7 minutes with 10 men and a free kick in a very good position. No city fan is trusting this current side to hold on to that lead. We could easily have conceded again if he had done that and then we are all saying why didn't he just let the player go wide, there's a chance he misses and we have 6-7 minutes to try score another with 11 if he doesn't.
