If he is then we are dropping a clanger because sure as hell he is going in the summer and then we are fuck Ortega about so he will leave and then we are in a position where we have to buy 2 top keepers .
Ortega was brought in as cover and although he significantly better than the last second choice in Steffan, he isn't better than Ederson either.

Your missing the point Eddie could be better but he isn’t staying with us so why not give Ortega the run he deserves because come next season we could end up with Scott Carson the only keeper we have .

I think you might have read it wrong, mate. I said penalty saves.

If that’s what you meant, others have answered since. One in 5 or 6 on average, if correct, but certainly more than 1 in 35!

Try and get over it, your life might be enriched.

So next season we buy 2 keepers ?

Ideally one, I would say, but the remaining one might react badly if relegated to second choice. So you have raised a valid point.

If Eddie wants to leave, we will probably allow him. The question then is whether we’re satisfied with Ortega as permanent no. 1. He’s serviceable, imo, but not exceptional.

No, im pretty sure that Neuer was the one who started that change.Ederson maybe got his passing to a higher lvl than him , but overall he isnt close to Neuers abilitys as a goalkeeper.

Nueur was a sweeper keeper. He was unique. And a great keeper.

He didn't change the position like Ederson has. As I said, he doesn't get the credit he deserves.

People can pick holes in his penalty record etc but no player is absolutely perfect.

In criticising his faults they miss out on appreciating him and what he has done.

Think you've touched on my feelings about Eddie here. I will always be grateful for what he has done for the club, he's been an absolute rockstar in the net. But what he is doing right now is losing his head on a regular basis and its costing us goals and games. I dont expect anything from any keeper when it comes to pens, its 100% a crapshoot.

The big man is definitely a cause for concern (at the moment), and definitely one of the positions that needs looking at during the rebuild because you need a rock at the back. I honestly hope he can get back to being that for us, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Ortega has had a decent run but hasn't looked any better and I don't think he is commanding enough for the Premier League

We replaced Eddie and we managed a win at home and a draw away (yeah draw with f*k Palace but one point away is really not THAT bad for our current form).

Then Pep switched back to Eddie and 2 more lose!

Do you know what is the most frustrating part of this poor run?

We somehow clicked and managed one win. Then Pep dropped the game plan and switched back the old sh*t.

Yep Ake and Akanji got injured in that game but there is absolutely no reason why Pep does not stick to that success and play the rest of the team.

Can you image something more discouraging than winning your manager his first win in 10 games and then dropped?

How can a player who has not won a single league game for weeks get the divine right to start in the Derby?

If you're watching the Spurs match and their calamity goalkeeper making two mistakes, one passing out and the other trying to be cool on the ball....

they all try to be like Ederson, but.....

Same. I think he's an absolute steal for a backup keeper and I'm glad we have him, but he isn't this bolted on top tier Prem keeper that he's made out to be. We got him for free from a relegated Bundesliga side.

Plus he's a year older than Ederson so it's not like he's the long term solution.
