Personally I think this was a bad signing
Good player when fit but I've got a feeling he will be our modern day Rodwell

Rodwell was a shite even without the injuries.. Very limited player TBF..

Phillips has all the capacities to be a decent defensive midfielder.. Play alongside Rodri or Bernardo with Gundo or KDB playing attacking positions..

Issue is his injury situation, but I don't think that's more problematic like it was in case of Gundo.. So, let's give him some time to gel into the team..

He has a big potential to be a decent squad / regular player for the next 5-6-7 years.. Plus he fills the homegrown quota.. That Everton fucker Anthony Gordon is sold for 60-70m and compared to that, Phillips is the bargain..

if he can stay fit for a bit he will be key in the champions league next to rodri. was impressed by his passing.

Phillips will be a good understudy for Rodri, he has a very good passing range and does not shy away from a tackle. Unfortunately, his injury record over the last couple of seasons is not good, I just hope this latest injury is not serious.

I know he's had an injury history, but not too worried about this one. Looked like he dislocated it, pop it back in, he'll be sore for a bit, but he'll be fine. Hopefully he's ready for Forest next week.

Then we shouldn't bought every player ever if we start concerning about every single of their injury history.
It’s not his entire injury history, it’s his shoulder injury history.

This would be his fourth shoulder injury in as many years and this one was under very little contact, which is indicative of weakness after repeated injury and surgery.

A mate of mine actually has a similar issue — after several dislocations and surgery meant to correct the issue a few years ago, he now has to be very careful, as he can pop his arm out of socket doing fairly mundane things. He actually just dislocated it the other day mowing his lawn.

Although it is a concern, we have signed player in way worse injury situation than him (Gundogan anyone?). Gundo is mostly fine and fortunately he can play for us for many year. Though i do wonder if injury free and fit Gundo will be different version than we already have right now, but still we got a quality player from him despite back injury concern.

I hope the same situation will happen to philips too despite his injury problem.

An unstable shoulder requires surgery. That means quite the rehab period.

And no guarantee it will actually fix the underlying issues, as my mate (see above) can attest to, unfortunately.

Then why we still signed him then?, you make it sound like he have a career ending injury like Gundo when we bought him from Dortmund.

Yet he still fine player and able to play for us for many seasons.

If his potential injury is worse than Gundo then our club shouldn't bought him yet we did anyway despite the risks. Our clubs is risking this like what they did it to Gundo.

We took a risk. As we did with Roque Santa Cruz, Rodwell, Jovetic, etc. Sometimes things just don’t work out as well as it obviously has with Gundogan.

I sincerely hope things work out with Phillips, as well. But I am trying to provide context as to why this latest shoulder injury is more concerning than merely a random knock in a friendly.
