4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

He’s added to the long list of average midfield signings recently. At least we didn’t pay silly money.

Added together we’ve wasted more than enough to have signed one actual good one. I’ll never get over us not spending whatever it took to get Rice out of London. We’d be top of the league if we had and have at least one more title and FA Cup.

It’s shit signings like Reijnders that have let serial bottlers Arsenal overtake us.

How shit must Serie A be if this complete waste of space was the best player in the league?

Wasn’t McTominay player of the year there? Tells you all you need to know. I remember when Serie A was the best in Europe; Del Piero, Zidane, Maldini, Baresi, Davids, Gazza …

Fucking shit now.

I wonder if this players are shit or if it’s because of our system. You can’t buy several best players who flop for us

Since Gundogan left the first time after the treble, we‘ve dropped what, nearly £200m on Kovacic, Nunes, Gonzalez and Reijnders. I‘d say none of those are good enough to be first choice starters (in midfield), not if we have any genuine ambition to get back to being among the very best.
Maybe add a ‚yet‘ in the case of Gonzalez.

The worst thing is the most technical players come from the academy like Nico O'Reilly who have been taught how to play for 9 years.. but instead he doesn't play them and wants the "experienced" players to do it instead when it's not part of their game.

I truly don't understand it sometimes.

people saying sell are mental. Gundogan was fucking rubbish and/or injured for about 3 seasons when he arrived. HMS Plodri was shite as well in 19/20. give the lad time to settle in.

Where would you see him playing though? Not got the physicality to play as an 8 or 6. He’s not in the same class as your special players who tend to play as a 10. For example a Cherki or even Foden when he was on form. Some players take time to settle and Wirtz is one like that but it was plain to see he had it in spades. Don’t see it with this lad at all and he’s approaching 28.

For every Rodri or Gundo there’s been a shitload of bad buys especially in recent years who’ve simply not been good enough.

I've mentioned it before about this player, and that is at the moment the criticism is quite fair at times. Goes through lots of games doing not much of note. He's brushed off the ball like a child too often which is frustrating to say the least. All people can comment on is what we've seen so far, which isn't much. What he may become, as you refer to, isn't guaranteed. Needs to "up it", no doubt.

I still think he'll come good for us, and he's shown glimpses of what he's capable of. He really needs to toughen up quickly though. Loses far too many 50/50s and the game just passes him by at times. He's a passenger that we can't afford to carry in the starting XI at the moment.

he's not only one brushed off ball how many times did a number of players just fall to floor against spurs and newcaastle if remember rightly and its never a free kick

Been a problem all season which I've mentioned elsewhere. Too many players are dispossessed with ease, get fannied off the ball like kids, lose out on 50-50s. It's basics of the game.

Gündoğan’s injuries were very much why he struggled at times early doors. But even then, he was nowhere near fucking rubbish. He was excellent when he first got in the team after his initial patella fracture he came to us with and before he tore his ACL, (like against Barça at home).

The season after his ACL tear, he was very much in recovery from that. And as we’re seeing with Rodri now, that is a severe injury that takes a long time to recover from.

Reijnders is not currently recovering from a patella fracture and certainly not from an ACL tear.

Rodri wasn’t shite in 19/20. He had some poor games (like Spurs away), but he also showed signs that he was going to be an excellent signing (there was a game he had to play CB away at Palace where he was superb bringing the ball into midfield and through the Winter of that season where he was class, Madrid away especially, and he was excellent in the EFL Cup final against Villa, covered every blade of grass).

Reijnders looks many levels below both Gündo+Rodri’s first seasons. He looks very weak, very limited, quite poor outside the box where he constantly loses the ball, although is a bit of a goal threat in the box.

yeah ,it makes me scream behind the tv ,when we loose another 50-50 duel or i see our player taking his foot off ,when has a chance to go for a tackle or win a ball. It happens too many times and our players need to toughen up.

Anderson and Kone aren't of the level we require to truly dominate. If we're serious; let's look at Vitinha or Pedri
“If we’re serious let’s go for untouchable players at their clubs that would cost 120m at the bare minimum and might not be able to adapt to the PL’s physicality anyway”.
