Just watching Sky News then and one of the correspondents said that ISIS are funded by wealthy backers from all over the Middle East, that went right over my head! Why would wealthy people back a terrorist murderous organisation like that?
Skashion and others who know the region please explain this as i just can't grasp it, surely these backers realise that in time ISIS will turn around and bite the hand that feeds it

I notice it on my Facebook, all my friends that were brought up in Qatar and are very right on were posting several times a day about Gaza and not one of them have ever mentioned the Sunni on Shia violence taking place in Syria and Iraq and still no mention or disgust at the treatment of the Yazidis so I fully empathise when people make mention of the fact the some people only seem to care when they can give Israel a kicking.

That will presumably be because Qatar supports Hamas and have until recently also supported ISIS.

You're joking right? 90% of the population are expats and the majority have families. There are hundreds of schools out there and Doha college which is one of the best schools and where the majority of my friends are alumni of has been going thirty odd years.

My real answer is that it is not trendy to be anti Isis in a very noisy outward manner.

They may well harbor hatred and condemnation towards what Isis are doing but it doesn't score the same social kudos as posting free Palestine articles every ten minutes. That and the fact two go my good friends (and therefore two of the people in my circle of friends) are of Palestinian descent may sway their thinking.

I'll certainly be bringing it up next Friday at brunch with them. Don't want to do it over Facebook as thinks can be misinterpreted.
