40th Party...

yeh, it just feels a bit forced i think.
really cba arranging and inviting everyone to a 40th, surely its to old to be having one of them.
My mates are going away next year for there 40th's to Vegas, which i will be joining.
I was 60 in November and would've loved to have an old school house party, acid punch, banging tunes, the lot.
Unfortunately the wife is not up to it so that never happened.
What i did do was sort some tunes out to be played in my mates bar then told close friends and siblings would be in there from 1am til 5ish if they fancied popping in for a drink. no pressure on me or anyone else and we ended up having a blast. Went back to mine with a few mates and carried on so the wife could join in a bit.

Birthday parties are a load of bollocks, Personally I don't see the point in them, Even more so for 40th, 50th, 60th or 70th whatever is it, Nobody wants to go to them either...

Tell her you want to go away for a week/long weekend with just her

OR

You want a nice dinner with a few of your close couple friends (no more than a table for 8 or 10) at a high quality restaurant.

We did the former for her 30th and the latter for my 40th and we still talk about how much we enjoyed both.

I like the sound of this, I'm away in Croatia the weekend after my bday with her.

Will arrange a couple meals thing in London weekend before. cheers. sold.

I hate parties like that. People don't really want to go either but feel obliged to. I fucking hate it when a DJ plays stupid games and tries to get people up to participate. I have to be so pissed to get up and dance. My ex wife used to try and get me up to dance, saying I was boring because I didn't. Prefer to be a bore than look fucking stupid!!!
Its your day do what you want. Could have a cracking weekend away for what a party would cost.
If mates want to celebrate with you just have a piss up in a pub.
