41 years since Good Friday Boundary Park mayhem

Jeez man you must’ve led a very sheltered life if a small time injury incurred 40 years ago still resonates so strongly and causes such unfounded resentment
Apologies if I’ve been a bit ott! Really, really bad week (parent dying amongst other things) so have been a bit of a **** and needed an argument! Had plenty now lol so ok haha. P.s. deffo not a sheltered life ;)

There were thousands of young blues there that day the majority of whom just watched what unfolded. They didn't get involved and a minority of a few hundred at the most did the ladder climbing and brick/concrete throwing. (saw a cop hit by a lump of concrete which wasnt a good moment no matter how much I despised the dibble back then)

Those who were there must all be in their late 50's 60's 70's or dead.

It's just FOCs remembering the old days. Fact is these things happened back then and will never happen again I would think.

Would love to see that. I've looked on youtube and there's just like one goal from the one where we went top of the league, the promotion season.
This was due to the TV companies taking a decision not to broadcast terrace violence, same went for streakers. The spoilsports knew that there were millions of viewers screaming 'show us the tits' at their tellies, but they used the tired 'denying them the oxygen of publicity' line that was introduced for the IRA.

Of course, they could have been more creative, and similar to when they had actors voicing Gerry Adams, they could have said 'this evening, the part of Daft Donald will be played by him off Boys from the Blackstuff', and the role of streaker at Wimbledon will be delivered by Melinda Messenger.

Enjoyed watching that, probably for the first time since in the flesh 40 years ago. Early in the game you can see loads of City fans to the right of the Riverside terrace (facing the camera) chanting "City!" with the away end. Then after the goal you can see they charge down to the opposite end to confront the Blackburn fans. I think it's the incident I referred to where another group of City fans in the Blackburn End (behind the left hand goal, and to the left of that stand) celebrated teh goal, fighting started, so the City in the Riverside have run down to join in.

Were there no Blackburn lads willing to scrap on that side terrace?

Pretty sure loads of us were behind the net in their end on the left hand side as you looked from the away end. Also pretty sure they stayed in there all game with no bother. The ones down the side were also left alone all game. We had two huge mobs as well as at least 5k in the away end. Blackburn didn’t want to know IIRC

I think Idris Elba would play a good Daft Donald.

If he can master Baltimore, he could do a passable Thingy.

I remember the group of city behind the net when Kinsey scored but had forgot about all our fans down the side till I watched it again!! also remember being back at the train station after the game & the Burnley special pulled in from Bolton round two of violence!!!

You added a bit there
I edited my post as my previous one was deleted, so I was asking if the contet was ok. Not grassing but I guess that's difficult to grasp if you are a knob head keyboard warrior.

And yet another example of a forum equivalent of a gobshite in a pub that won't shut the fuck up.
