I think the Xmas period will see the introduction of Foden starting Premier League games and resting Silva, and i think if he does start he will become very difficult to move
Absolutely I do, but it nails the issue as to why he doesn't get more game time right now, he'll play 90 minutes I expect on Tuesday, but he won't if he starts like he did yesterday, because he'll run out of steam and/or get cramp, he needs to take a leaf out of David Silva, and use his energy better, I've no doubt it'll come, but if he trains that way, I can see why Pep doesn't fully trust him in a game like yesterday ahead of David. Energy is great, but chasing about after lost causes isn't.You make some valid comments, but don't you think that by playing more games and also starting games he will channel his energy more effectively and his game will develop.
I'd slightly disagree there, because almost immediately after he came on they had their best 10 minute spell of the half, that wasn't Phil's fault we just seemed to drop off a bit where we'd had almost total control in the half until then. His pressing was one of the main reasons Chelsea were struggling to get out of their half in the last 20 minutes.
Given that he knows he is on for just 25 or so minutes, he can afford to burn a lot of energy and whilst that doesn't mean he should waste energy or run about aimlessly, it is rather different to starting a game.Absolutely I do, but it nails the issue as to why he doesn't get more game time right now, he'll play 90 minutes I expect on Tuesday, but he won't if he starts like he did yesterday, because he'll run out of steam and/or get cramp, he needs to take a leaf out of David Silva, and use his energy better, I've no doubt it'll come, but if he trains that way, I can see why Pep doesn't fully trust him in a game like yesterday ahead of David. Obviously, and I said as much in an earlier post, I thought he did waste it a bit yesterday.Given that he knows he is on for just 25 or so minutes, he can afford to burn a lot of energy and whilst that doesn't mean he should waste energy or run about aimlessly, it is rather different to starting a game.
That's where we miss Silva in my opinion. He can be struggling like fuck in games but the control is always better with him there, that's why Pep is so keen to use him, especially when KDB is a bit more free spirited (for want of a better word)Absolutely I do, but it nails the issue as to why he doesn't get more game time right now, he'll play 90 minutes I expect on Tuesday, but he won't if he starts like he did yesterday, because he'll run out of steam and/or get cramp, he needs to take a leaf out of David Silva, and use his energy better, I've no doubt it'll come, but if he trains that way, I can see why Pep doesn't fully trust him in a game like yesterday ahead of David. Dave has been and is still the best controller of a game, same thing happens everytime he is not playing or is subbed but people expect phil to be able to that that right now,we have 6 more months of dave, let's use him wisely whilst phil develops that part of his gameThat's where we miss Silva in my opinion. Yep, I agree with Cleavers. His energy was welcomed, but he was is no way, shape or form excellent. Long road ahead of him.
