Is it ? Maybe the headless chicken is not what Pep wants or needs, and that's what has kept him out.

People need to remember that we see him for a few minutes every few games, Pep see's him in training day in, day out, so maybe he's still learning ? That's why I saw an improvement today, he held his position, and worked well with others, so better for the team overall, and Pep is rightly about the team and not individuals.

I'm fully expecting he'll start on Wednesday, we might be 3-1 up, but its still a very important game that needs to get done.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on a few things.

Firstly, I saw you said in an earlier comment that you thought he put in a better performance than David. Not a chance, as far as I'm concerned.

Secondly, where you say you saw an improvement from him today, I don't think the performance was a patch on the one he gave in December against Arsenal where he was tasked with a similar wide starting role. He was sacrificed early in the second half due to a tactical change but was far more incisive offensively and industrial defensively.

Maybe the headless chicken is not what Pep wants or needs, and that's what has kept him out.

Which is the point I was making. One over eager performance in a big game and naively trying to run his socks off might have made Pep question his game management and put him off.

As I was saying to someone else, I think that composure is something he'll gain from experience and that's why I and others think it's important that he gets that experience this season if the plan is actually to have him replace David next season.

Whether that's hot air or not is something we'll only be able to judge 18 months from now but, if the intention is genuinely there, we need to be preparing him better than having the bulk of his minutes coming against lower league opposition and and average European teams.

He didn’t perform better than Silva. That much is obvious.

I sat there yesterday watching the game and thought about Silva quite a bit. I dont think he had a great game, in fact no one really did. He is still a good player but clearly because of his age his performances have dropped off a bit this last season. I don't think he links up as well with Gabby as he does with Aguero. And as his pace has dropped a bit and this shows when he plays alongside Gundogan as the whole team seem to play at a slower pace. Shame Foden didn't start in the middle. Wonder if he will play a part this Wednesday?

With the greatest respect to Karen are you intimating that you or she know that better than Pep?

Sorry I disagree, this is a forum to discuss opinions on our club. Every fan is entitled to an opinion and I fully respect Karen's opinion, in fact I enjoy reading her posts. I simply asked her opinion on how many games she thinks Foden has to start to substantiate her thoughts that he will take over form Silva in 4mths time. 14 games left is not many considering he has only played 250 odd minutes in the previous 24 games this season?

Karen said he would be taking over Silva's role at the end of the season, Pep hasn't said this as far as I am aware? Personally I have some big doubts given the amount of time he plays in the PL at present?

Foden needs to play in some big games
United or spurs would be a good start this week
David Silva has had two good games in about 20 against villa and Fulham
Leagues gone so perfect time to give foden 5 or 6 games in a row
Players like sancho maduson and grealish are no better but they play every week

He was Motm and the commentators didn’t stop eulogising about his performance.
Everything good we did came through him.
Granted, the circumstances suited him with Fulham down to 10 and them sitting so deep but that doesn’t distract from his overall game being very good.
He certainly linked up well with Jesus yesterday.
