#47 | Phil Foden - 2019/20 Performances

I really don't think Phil Foden will reach his full potential here. I think we'll waste his most formative years (17 - 20) playing him in bit roles as he stagnates. So for his own good, I think the time has come for him to leave. Not on loan, but permanently. City can put in a 50 million buyback clause if they want. But if I were Foden, come summer I'm asking to be sold.

People keep saying loan him out. No, no, no, if I were Phil, I'm demanding to be sold. Loans are how talented young kids get their careers ruined.

Again I'll repeat, Phil Foden was better than Sancho 20 months ago. Today one is a top 10 player in Germany and Phil is still a kid who can't be trusted with cup games.

It's time to do what Kev did at Chelsea and Sancho here if he still has hopes of maximizing his potential, it's time to take your career into your own hand. There are kids who couldn't touch Phil 2 years ago who are all passing him left and right. I know it would hurt as a City fan, but for the sake of the kid, it's time to go. And not on loan. Permanently!

Unless Pep says the starting 8 position is yours to lose next year ( which I can guarantee you it isn't) I m advising Phil to step out of the shadow.

That's just me.
Blimey

Can't really expect consistency from him when he barely plays.

He will not go on loan, he is clearly our future, the league is also done, so Pep should be playing him in the league more often, I don't mind if he doesn't play the BIG games (though I think he should).

So I am on a wait and see approach. If he doesn't play against Tottenham, I'll be pretty annoyed.

Luckily you're not Phil, and come the summer when David goes he move's up permanently.

In fact, come the summer, I'm sure we'd all be delighted if you asked to be sold ;-)

It’s not about him being young. He’s just not that good yet. He doesn’t really unlock any doors when on the pitch. He’s quite tidy, is a goal threat himself, but looks well short of being a goal provider in this team yet.

Your enthusiasm for him seems to have dried up over the last six weeks. Which is odd considering the only meaningful minutes he's been allowed in that timeframe have seen him playing in a position he's never been suited to.

Some of you are either forgetting just how talented he is or have started convincing yourselves that the lack of playing time is proof that he's not been up to scratch all along.

It's weird to see.

They flashed a stat that he has 2 goals and 8 assists in his last 10 starts for us, against Fulham. So errrr

Sorry mate I just disagree. Pretty much every time he’s played he’s got a goal or assist, which is pretty remarkable itself considering how little he has played. The only way he will get better is with more game time.

that’s why I think if he’s not going to play here. Send him out on loan and let him show what he’s capable of

I was very reluctant to entertain the idea of him going out on loan but if he can’t even get on the pitch in a hone game when we are 3-1 up at kick off then I might have to think again

He’s got all the potential in the world and should really be getting more regular football
