And as a result, Leroy refused to sign any of the contract offers put in front of him and played with Bayern all summer, and will probably leave next summer.

If Foden doesn't play the same will happen. Some people don't care about that, others do.
He was wanted by the biggest club in his home country and we still don't know if he was using them to get a better deal from us,bayern say they backed off because of his wage demands, not as straight foward as you may out

Yeah maybe but will they be picking up trophies? Foden contributed to the quad last season if we win more trophies this season he would of contributed more.

No and the circumstances are different I totally accept that. Still if he ain’t playing he’s going to get pissed off eventually.

If I was him It be next season Id be more peeved of if I didnt play more just because Silva be gone but saying that he will be still only 20.

Every thread on this forum descends into the same farce. A trusted poster who has contacts at the club informs people that a player has had a falling out with the manager and is then shot down by a prolific poster.

Why would the person who has posted it post this information without it being true? Especially when this poster is a massive advocate of youth and the academy.

If the fall out is true then it's a bit poor from Pep.

Builds Foden up in the press, best young player I've ever seen blah blah.
No football.
Press ask him why?
Pep says he's treating him with too much respect, needs to show him more.
Foden goes to the press and says he wants to play. Goes to the U21's and gets 2 goals and 2 assists.
No football.
Foden rightly upset with this and tells the manager so.
Pep sees his arse and drops him and makes up some bullshit about a stomach bug.

Of course if this is indeed true.

It is tricky one. I moved my son this season from the club he was the main star at in 2 different age groups for years. And I mean really the top main star. He could come with his legs tied and he would be the first name on the team sheet. I thought he he became too big for his team and is time to move on keep learning with better players and better opponents. He is pretty good goalkeeper for his age, one of the best in our area, but the team he was playing in was very limited and he rarely felt the pride of a win. Specially at tournaments as they moved past the group stage only twice. He's now at a team with much better group of players, but as it goes like that in our shit country, he's new kid on the block and was put in the 2nd team despite, in my maybe not completely realistic opinion, being twice a keeper than kid who plays in first team and who's from the neighborhood team is located in and in the club for 3 years. My lad is very big unit for his age and has 3 years of goalkeeping training with ex Bosnian national team goalkeeper but at the beginning of this season he's playing in a shit team, nothing better than one we left looking for step ahead in his development. I m not completely happy but have an option to make a fuss and not play before February when I could register him at another club or play and try to persuade them it's a quality that should matter, not loyalty or being good with kids parents. They bought some time selecting my kid to play at one tournament before the league started, where his team won the competition and he was happy as it was first collective award he earnt. He won some medals on single goalkeeping competitions, but nothing ever with his club.

Foden is in similar situation. He is not better than his competition though, but he has to beat some established players with history at the club. He is not playing a lot, but club bought some time with him with playing him here and there and him collecting few medals. It's a struggle for kids always. Choice between being a big fish in a small pond or small fish in a bigger one. Not being able to learn much from your teammates as you're better than them, or playing less and not being a star but learning from being a part of a big team. I hope both my lad and Foden will have best of both worlds. Foden is in better situation though. He is getting paid to sit on the bench, I'm spending a fortune paying all kind of fees and equipment for my lad. Fucking goalkeeping, it would be twice cheaper if he knew to score the goals.

Everyone in this thread wants the best for him and everyone in this thread wants him to succeed here.

No, a lot of posters on here say they want the best for him and for him to succeed here, but create excuses and barriers that make it impossible.

They want him to play, but only if he's better than world class senior players in their prime, and there's no risk, and only once a month in case he plays too much, and only if there's no chance we're weaker with him in the team, and only if we're guaranteed to get 3 points.

Which is to say, they don't want him to play.

Because no youth player ever has been better than world class players without playing, because there's always a risk. What every other team does is see the kid has potential and invests in them playing, because they'll pay it back 100x when you get a world class player with ties to the fans for free. And they do it before the kid who is a life long fan of the club gets so pissed off at being told he's the best player the manager has ever seen at that age, but never getting to play that he talks to the press and gets in rows with the manager.

I want City to do good more bthan Foden, tbh. Better if he does it good at City too, actually it would be great, but if him doing good would mean City would be worse, than sorry, it's a barrier and excuse I'm putting without feeling guilty.

Pretty simple to me, if the plan is replace Silva with Foden next season then fair enough he will certainly game time throughout this season and will continue to learn the role. If we sign another big money attacking player next summer then honestly fuck knows why he hasn't been loaned out.

Rubbish.

Just because people have a different opinion to yours on what is needed to progress Foden into regular first team football it doesn't mean they don't want it to happen.

Signing another midfielder would mean we don't trust Phil at all. It doesn't look like Pep will extend his contract though, I'm not sure we'd do it in that case.
