Agree with this tbh. Pep spent 18 months turning Foden into one of the world's best young wingers but has now decided he's going to play him centrally, then on the wing, and will no doubt be central again on Sunday.
Doesn't matter. He's a professional..And none of those positions are foreign to him. Let's not create issues where one don't exist.

The last sentence was meant for @DATOIA

He is a far, far better winger then Sterling or anyone pep puts on the left and he deserves to play there. Or even false 9 where he’s always played well.

I don’t get why people like him in the midfield. He is a risk taker and adventurous in his play. He likes to take his man on, play quick one twos, actually pretty fast, and enjoys the space on the left. To me he is far better as a forward then a midfielder.

Peps biggest mistake is putting Sterling back in the line up and taking out foden. This is on him.
Agreed.

the long term plan was always to play Phil in the middle, no?

Personally, I want him in the middle and on/around the ball as much as possible as opposed to the wing(where he was no doubt fantastic)
He was always a 10 IMO.

Playing on the wing and in an unfamiliar role has been a part of his development.Going forward in his career,he'll benefit hugely, along with the team, from that experience.

I think he is fine as a false 9. It limits him, but city dont really have anyone better in that role. Jesus is way better on the right and Sterling is lost right now. Mahrez would be my second choice but his lack of any sort of physicality limits him there

I guess you could put Ferran there as the actual 9 and he has great movement but his hold up play and ball retention isn’t as good as foden, and pep doesn’t seem to trust him 100% just yet

Absolutely horrible first half... And that miss on that brilliant play by Bernardo... Wow. Awful.
