The danger is of course if he doesn’t get more game time and his confidence really goes the club may listen to offers for him and there will be no shortage of clubs who will buy him. Pep doing him no favours playing him like he does.
He just signed a new contract and he's a world class footballer who supports the club. He'll be here long after Pep has gone.

He's still played more than all the attackers bar Haaland.

I think here's validity to the position debate but that's not the issue right now. The problem is he seems to have fallen out with Pep, and even when playing he's miles off it.

We can debate whether LW is his best position long term, but he's produced there for nearly half a decade now. Last night he looked like he'd never stepped foot on a pitch before.

I hate saying this because I love Phil, but he gets too much slack on here sometimes. He's one of our best players and absolutely has the talent to be genuinely world class, but he needs to step up. I'm expecting to get criticism for this but take his performance/whatever is going on with Pep plus the off field incidents of the past few years, stick it on Grealish/Mahrez/Cancelo/etc. and I'm not sure they'd have made it out of the stadium safely.

I think this issue, whatever it is, will pass and he'll go on to have a legendary career at City. He's and incredible footballer and seemingly a good guy as well. But I do think it's time for him to take the next step. He's 23 in a few months, which is young but not that young in footballing years. He's been in the first team and with Pep for over half a decade - there's really no excuse for squabbling with the manager and popping up in the news a few times year.

I didn't see anything tactical yesterday that would make him perform badly. He performed badly all on his own. He failed to control simple balls and connect simple passes. He left ake hanging numerous times by failing to track back.
Exactly

Far too many people blaming systems, or the fact we now play with a proper striker. Nobody was saying that when we were putting 6 goals past United and Phil scored 3

The reality is he was just poor last night, and recently a fair few of our players have been off the pace. Cant blame a system on the fact a player could barely control a ball.

Phil and others need to up their games and we will be fine

I’ve felt this should be a major season for Foden. We all know how talented he is, but he’s not a teenager anymore. He’ll be approaching mid 20’s by next season, time goes fast. I think this is the time he needs to start setting his marker and showing every week that he’s good enough to be a real force in football.

Not a chance

The more likely scenario is he decides to leave as he should be starting every game

That’s not a danger at all. There is zero chance we are selling him.
