It's nothing to do with being pocketed. Being pocketed would involve Foden trying to beat the man and failing on every occasion. As far as I saw, he didn't try to go passed him once. Its the way we fucking play! Keep the ball. I'd rather he did try it but he's clearly told not to lose it.

I'm of the opinion that Foden's development has stunted in the 9 months or so but that is all to do with the job he's doing for the team and the system we play, but to say he got pocketed, is the biggest load of bollocks and shows zero understanding of the game of football.
 
Didn't have a great game yesterday, but then neither did most of the team. But was still involved in nearly all of the good things we did. That can't be said of the likes of other several players.

Every time he got the ball he passed it back to the nearest City player. Where is the player that ripped Liverpool apart less than 18 months ago, let's get that player back because this version of Phil is underwhelming.

That player has been told by his manager that to stay in the team he has to sacrifice his natural game and become a cog in a well oiled machine.
Unfortunately that leaves him open to a bit of grief whenever we drop points.
We are unlikely to see the 17/18 year old version of Foden again whilst Pep is our manager so I suspect he’s going to be getting a rough time of it for the foreseeable from those who can’t see the woods for the trees.

You do agree that the match winning other version is better though. I agree with nearly everything that Pep does and I find it hard to believe that he is stifling Phil natural talent because that really doesn't help Phil or the team in my opinion, which I realise really doesn't matter.

What it’ll do eventually is turn him into a well rounded player who excels at most parts of the game.

Sadly for Phil, in the meantime it means his individual brilliance will have to be curtailed.
