Yep. As much as I love Merlin, scoring goals wasn't close to being his main attribute.

Foden was incredible yesterday and my man of the match, which is some going when you consider how well Haaland played. He was all over the pitch and put in a serious shift in defence as well as in attack.
Agreed. Let's be honest, Merlins best goals for City were the nutmeg executed on the doughnut theif in the sick swan,a brilliant effort against a dodgy WHU in a pre season game in China( how he scored that one I still don't know)..a classy mazy dribble against a poor blackpool side at bloomfield( 1st match afted Big Mals passing,i was there) and another stunner away at Hull City....

David Silva was a majestic midfielder, with the unique ability, for a footballer,to control the tempo of a game.....Foden would have learned a lot training alongside the midfield genius, but as you say there is no point comparing the goal scoring ability/ style of the two players.Foden is in a different league in that regard, albeit helped by a more advanced position on the field in recent years...

What I'm really looking forward to is our own academy player,in later years, slipping into a central midfield role..and controlling the tempo of games, running the show, just like Silva....but he will still score goals from that position. It's in his DNA.to do damage to the opposition.

He is lethal.

Pep leaking final strat for CL final already lol.

Tbh i can see Pep seems think that way, he can potentially be great in inverted left-back. Even left wingback.

Remember this is Pep possession based system, the most unique and the best. Football works different here.

Why not? Ake or Laporte as part of a 3 at the back and it could let us combine Alvarez and Alfie's little fella up front with Kev on the right and Rodri/Bernardo/Silky in the middle. Sounds fucking mustard.

Would love Pep to give the formation he played against Palace in the second half a go. Bernardo RWB Foden LWB seemed to suit both players.

That's an interesting fun fact I wouldn't have guessed, mentioned in today's match v Copenhagen.

Foden scored his first 50 career goals quicker than Lionel Messi did!

Ah, maybe I'm wrong so, cheers. Was just off the top of my head from an article when Stephen Ireland was still playing for us.
Apparently the only other one was Horace Barnes in 1921 who was born in Sheffield. Seems odd that there were only 2 hattricks scored before last weekend.

This is so true... Try him as LB in FIFA, guy is Magic...

After that "Sane Gone.." crisis, that impacted on 19/20 and the start of 20 / 21 season, Foden and Cancelo were the players who energised our attack and we started to fly again..

Since then, Cancelo-Foden duo are our most lethal and important players when it comes to individual creation of chances... Three seasons already..

That's why Pep gives them the most minutes.. Ederson / Cancelo / Foden are our most used players by Pep..
