Yeah Phil wasn't an issue today, put a masisve shift in off the ball, tackles interceptions, clearances and winning headers vs Ben White. Then also completed most dribbles and created most chances for us
Feel he's a victim of his own adaptability at times..Dont think he really wants to play on the left. Was asked in recent city video(players reacting to fifa ratings) his favourite positions and he said Rw and Cam.
It's clear as day he doesn't want to be a winger. Everything in his being as a player is telling him to come inside as opposed to hugging the chalk on the touchline.

I worry about how things are going to play out when KDB gets back because one of him, Phil, and Alvarez will be on the bench more times than not, and based on nothing but speculation, he's had enough of sitting on the bench at this point.

Maybe he's just not as good as we think? He's clearly very good, but he's not the player we thought he'd be by now. Alvarez has come in and delivers significantly more than Phil, who seems to look very lightweight all of a sudden - pretty sure he wasn't as easy to knock off the ball 18 months ago
100% this. Don't get me wrong, he's still *just* in our strongest 11 for me and to be in that you have to be an incredible footballer, but he was spoken about as a generational talent and I just don't see it now. I want him to be dragging us through games like today but he doesn't do it.

Has he improved from the season he had in 20/21? Not for me. He looked like the best talent in world football then and I don't think he's the best English talent now.

Begging for him to prove me wrong.

Lazy and passive..
I disagree on the lazy part. I don't think he's lazy in the slightest.

I just don't think he has the football intelligence to switch on straight away when we lose the ball. It takes him too much time to react. There was an example of it today. He lost the ball, threw his hands up in anger and then realised he needed to get back and he did make the tackle.

He is such a natural footballer but I don't think the football brain he has is particularly natural and it's holding him back a bit.

Guardiola is probably the wrong coach for a player like him. He’s turned out just good, which is fine

He also got the ball stolen from him by Jesus and immediately won it back from him. He won the most duels(11, which is a heck of a lot) of any player out there today.

He wasn't near his best I thought he was far and away our best attacker.
