47 | Phil Foden - 2024/25

You mean you are unable to explain?
Unable to explain that Foden over many seasons has been brilliant, who’s just come off the back of a clean sweep of awards for actually confirm he’s one of the best in the world. Who is savvy enough to adapt to many roles in order to play for the best manager in the best team in the world as opposed to a good 12 months in a team that allows him the freedom to shine individually?
The only explanation to think Palmer is better is the people saying it only started watching football a year ago.

No, you dick. I started watching City in the 1960s.
Haha! I’m well aware that you’re a long time blue. Makes your opinion that Palmer is better all the stranger but I’m not arguing with you.
You asked me for an explanation, I gave you mine.
What’s yours for thinking he’s a better player?
Pretty sure any highlight reel will favour Phil.

I’m actually a big fan of Phil and always have been. I’m not saying Palmer’s better than him unless or until he sustains what he’s currently doing, which is:

-Inspiring, if not galvanising, an underperforming rag bag of individuals
- Scoring loads of goals
- Getting assists
- Shooting on sight (which we desperately lack), and
- Passing like a good un.

On those counts and on present form, he most definitely eclipses Phil. Over the last 3 or 4 years in total? No. Longer term future? We’ll see, but hopefully not.

You’ll get no argument from me on Palmers merits. He’s brilliant. I always feel that there’s some recency bias involved when it comes to him and Foden comparisons though.
As an aside it finally looks like Phil’s head is back in the game after an uncertain start to the season.
Let’s see how it plays out.
