47 | Phil Foden - 2024/25

he has to start deliver. if goals not coming at least assists has to come. 19 goals and 8 assists last PL season. seems impossible already to copy that.
fair enough best ever seasons are hard to replicate off the bat, but he has one assist without goals in the league. I think it was the assist he put onto Stones' head at the corner goal. not much from open play tho.

we are struggling to replace the G+A from Rodri and Alvarez as it is, but fuck at this rate who is taking on Foden's portion...

this is when you need wingers with high numbers but Doku, Grealish aint gonna all of a sudden turn up with Salah or Saka numbers. poor Grealish, I am happy if he does 2 goals+2 assists at this rate.

Overall bad performance from Foden tonight. I think people should stop seeing him as a midfielder at this point. There is no way he's gonna be our next main midfielder. can't even keep the ball without falling when someone's behind him. Always back-pass when he's on 1v1, creates nothing when he's under pressure, and just played very passively.

He still shows little flashes of quality but miles off it at the moment. I know he'll get back to a high level because he's that good.

Looks lost at the minute, I've no idea why, whether it's personal reasons or what.

24 with 3 young kids and a young wife too. Foden himself personality wise always seemed to be 100 mph type guy. Think he has now worn himself out.

Does he seem the 100mph type?

I always got the impression he lives quite a chilled life, but that's just my assumption.

I don't think he's worn himself out. Seems like something has happened and his mind wasn't where it needed to be. He's playing like he lacks confidence more than anything.

I'm sure he will get back to his best. He's young and genuinely quality.

More worried about the likes of Bernado, Gundo and Walker. They're all looking like they've settled into a decline.

If he wants to trully be the successor of Kev in that attacking midfield role he needs to get back to that drive he had when he broke through and was lighting up the U17 national team and terrorising defences.

It's all there and you see it in games, but he needs to take the 20 yard line by the scruff of the neck and own that area of the pitch, for the full 90 mins

I think he feels just as much frustration as us, it’s written all over his face. Look when he missed in that final minute yesterday he will know its just not happening.

We are talking very small margins, a ball width to the left and its in, last week could of had multiple assists agains southampton.

What worries me is where has his pace gone, where’s that confidence gone to beat his man? Final game against West Ham last season he played like he was the main man, acted like it also.

Maybe pressures have got to him, let’s be honest 7 years fighting his way into this team against truly World Class operators must take its toll. I think the Euros have shattered him, I think he is getting frustrated on the pitch. Being shafted out wide for Silva & Gundo was a piss take.

I hope he improves , I dont know where he fits currently when KDB is back.
