47 | Phil Foden - 2024/25

Does he seem the 100mph type?

I always got the impression he lives quite a chilled life, but that's just my assumption.

I don't think he's worn himself out. Seems like something has happened and his mind wasn't where it needed to be. He's playing like he lacks confidence more than anything.

I'm sure he will get back to his best. He's young and genuinely quality.

More worried about the likes of Bernado, Gundo and Walker. They're all looking like they've settled into a decline.
When he first came into the team he was like a terrier after the ball. He may no longer be that type of player but he has 3 kids and I bet he wants to play with them and entertain them. Then he has his sponsors and media demands.

He has moved house recently, not sure if that has impacted him.

Hot take alert, but I think pep has failed Phil a little bit. There just always seems to be that little bit of doubt and he flat out refuses to play him centrally with KDB the way he did with kev and david silva. It took kev's injury last year for Foden to become the man and even then Pep flirted with Alvarez in the 10 for ages before giving in and playing phil when alvarez was just crap there game after game.

He is moved to accommodate inferior players all the time and watching bernardo try and create centrally yesterday while the player of the season is booted to right wing is in infuriating. If he isn't as confident as he should be at this point in his career its because he's been doubted frequently by the manager.

The treble season he got lumped to the bench and yes we won the treble and that means any criticism of how we played for much of that season (we were crap till february lol) is null and void but Phil might have helped in some moments maybe.

I don't know, I don't like how pep treats Phil and I know everyone will be like 'oh rag, he treated him so badly he won player of the season' but Foden isn't as consistent as he should be at this point in his career, he seems way more full of doubt and is meeker than he should be with his level of talent.

I actually wonder if Phil will be the rare player that will actually benefit from pep's departure, even if Man city as a whole won't. The team should be built around him now, but pep is clinging on to his 30 plus personal favourites instead.

Any chance of Phil taking any criticism or is it all Pep's fault?

My hot take is if there's friction between the two that cannot be resolved, I would sell Phil to Chelesa like Palmer than allow Pep to leave!

Pep is the system.. not Phil!

I still think they can coexist.. something is bothering Phil and it's not Pep!

I am convinced it was the EUROs (which got quite nasty during and after with the fans/pundits). If you think about it, its the first time he has ever had his performance criticised. Also Jude Bellingham and all the bollocks he brings.

I hope he can get it straight, that he has good people who can bring him through and he can smash it and shut them all up.

He’s having a dip in form for a myriad of reasons.
Blaming Pep is pathetic.

Any chance of pep taking criticism without the toppest blues throwing dummies out. Pep is the greatest manager ever. I’m not convinced that he’s done the greatest possible job with foden and the 24 year old Phil we have isn’t as good as he should be. Blame phil if you want but pep can’t go 2 games without shafting him for one of the sideways passers. I don’t accept it doesn’t have an effect on his confidence
