47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

That was more like it in the second half, did what a top class number 10 should do.

Seeing him play deeper and deeper in midfield is the beat version of Phil.

He wants to build our attack, he likes being on the end of them as well, but it's not his best form.

He was often the one next to Nico G, less so Cherki or Reijnders.

What a second half, filthy passes. Won’t get points on FPL but he ran the show once Reindeers went off
Reijnders is a serious problem. Not only is he invisible 99% of the time, he throws off the whole balance of the midfield. Phil needs to be the focal point in there.

Agree with this. I think he’s quality don’t get me wrong but the balance isn’t there yet.

Superb second half. We needed someone to step up and he did just that. Agree in terms of the balance with Reijnders, he needs to adapt to his role - we need a lot more patience from him. Kovacic coming in for him initially might help things, or Cherki/Marmoush in the 10 and Phil having a bit more of a deeper role.

Think long term Phil will be an 8 and Cherki the 10. There will be plenty of games for Reijnders though in either position, same with Rodri and Gonzalez in the 6. Though in time could see O’Reilly coming into the equation too, maybe when Kovacic and Bernardo leave.

Mentioned it in the Reindjers thread but both of them occupy similar positions.

Foden was brilliant in the second half picking it up deeper.

Cherki seemed to have the key to unlock Foden’s freedom today.

He was reserved, slow and lethargic in the first half and most of the second until RC came on.

Very quiet first 60 minutes, came alive once we had the lead, got to be doing more to help us get the breakthrough.

Agree he wasn’t lively in the first but we got the breakthrough/lead through him
Good point. I didnt acknowledge his involvement in the opener. Think I forgot it was him as I was preoccupied trying to work out who was coming on to realise.
