It’s great seeing him doing so well, what a player he is right now. Like having a new signing, looks like he’s become exactly what Pep was hoping he could be.

I remember like it was yesterday, that I would despair when I see Stones + Otamendi on the team sheet.

Still can't believe how well he has turned it around.

He’s been amazing since coming back into the fold, I’m made up for him.

however, a note of caution - his time at Cit’s has be characterised by periods of great form and then dropping out of the team due to injury or otherwise

in 17/18 up until getting injured against Leicester he was imperious with either kompany or Otamendi

the following season him and Laporte were great until he got injured again.

im praying he keeps this up until the end of the season, the partnership of him and Dias is the best we have had in the premier league era to date

I think this time is different. He looks strong and quick and committed to not conceding. Whenever he has had good spells before, he'd always still be prone to a poor pass or get bullied off the ball. This season he is making sure he's first to the ball and stronger than the opponent in the tackle. He goes to ground only when needed and gets rid of the ball if nothing else is on, rather than taking too many touches looking to retain possession and getting caught out.

Dias has undoubtedly helped him lift his game on the pitch, but he deserves so much credit for not giving up and working his arse off to become the player everyone thought he could be.

That is absolutely insane. Numbers a bit inflated due to a few sub apperances but still, wow.

From criticised and chastised to surprised and eulogized in the same season, wow!

I admit I was amongst many on here who thought he was finished at City. I didn't want him to be finished. I wanted Stones to prove all the doubters wrong and come good and boy has John boy come good and proved everyone wrong! Since he found his self belief and galvanized his mettle he has looked a world class player, he's fully focussed now and determined to succeed. And the best thing is he is playing with a smile on his face and it's heartwarming to see. Gone are those frightened rabbit in headlights eyes, he has a mean steel look nowadays, I'm made up for him.

Keep it up Stonesy, you've been sensational, thanks largely to Dias.

The new twin towers have been built, here in Manchester: )

Contract please Txiki. He looks amazing, and he's got a partner for the next decade. He looks better in every regard since Dias came. Very early days but could be the bedrock of the best defence in Europe. Give them a proper LB and a striker to take the pressure off the 1-0's and we're pretty much set.
