Slow start to the season , he looks miles way from match fitness , we know John is a class defender he has proven himself but he does take a lot of time to get his form back after one of his many injuries , but he has extra competition with Ake now looking like a £50m defender.

Yep. He was our best defender in the 1st half too even though many in the match day thread would disagree.

I'm his biggest critic(see above) but I thought he bossed the game from their second goal on.

Still showing some rustiness as is to be expected,which will also affect those around him,but he grew into the game well and will only get better alongside Dias if both can stay fit.
