If it wasnt for his injury record he would go down as one of the great centre backs of our era , so similar to Vinny he also missed so much football due to niggling injuries
Yeah, this is true unfortunately. City fans know how good he is but what stops him being universally regarded as one of the best centre backs in the game is that he often misses half the season through injury. Hopefully he'll get over his injury problems like Sergio did towards the end of his career.

Rodri that good he’s playing alongside himself, nice.
Either Kova plays DM and Rodri CB who pushes up next to him.

Or Akanji, Ake or Gvardiol is asked to try the Stones role with Akanji having the most experience with it.

I prefer the 1st option personally.

For those saying he shouldn’t have played, Going straight into the toughest games isn’t great for an injury prone player either. Pep could have only intended to play him for 45 anyway. City has managed other injuries well, I don’t think they’ve suddenly forgotten their way with John. Just feels unlucky. But I do hope since it wasn’t an on field incident, hes back soon.
He played against Brighton, Utd and Bournemouth. Given his injury record how was he not on the list of players to sit out a meaningless group game tonight? Crazy to play him and so it’s proved.

Yeah I don’t think Johns even one of them you have to play into form. He just slots in, would have saved him for the Prem.

If it's a muscle issue, I guess it may take at least 6 weeks for him to come back, if not 8 weeks.

He's gonna be even more susceptible to injuries now given his increased workload in the hybrid role.
