I think either can very easily and successfully play alongside any of our other centre-backs, but in both skillset and personality they complement each other perfectly. Ruben's aggression and focus are particularly helpful to John.

John and Rúben are the modern day equivalent of the traditional ball-player and stopper pairings of the past.

Need to get him up to speed as soon as we can.
Not sure whether he‘s ready for tomorrow - he always seems to struggle like fuck if not 100% (or close). But generally speaking, we‘re a better team with Stones than without.

Agree. But our very best defence, for me, would be Akanji-Stones-Dias-Ake/Gvardiol. With Stones stepping out into midfield with Rodri.
