I totally agree with that sentiment.

I read a post on Walker last night "good riddance" was used, that is insulting, unnecessary and very wrong.

We will have to say goodbye in the coming months to some wonderful players, their time is over but we all should be saying goodbye and thank you for giving us some wonderful and magnificent times that will live with us until for our lifetime and these players and achievements will be long remembered when all of us are no longer here.

But I will add there are some ( not you) that are hanging onto those great moments, that is just as bad as not appreciating what these players have done, we are at a pivotal moment, too much sentiment could be very damaging.
Yes, life moves on. We just need to say goodbye to them with dignity and respect for what they have done and keep the happy memories.
We grow older as well. I thought I would be attending home and away, both here and abroad until I was too old. Tough, life happens to them and to us.

(Crikey I sound like a funeral eulogy!!) whoops sorry not intended.

Hold your horses!!

We may be FOC but I still want to see us lift a few more pots until I exit stage left!!

We are desperate for Stones to get back in. Even for a short run. We need him desperately.

So many folk focused on Rodri but not having stones is probably even worse.

History will be extremely kind to stones. Look back at all our best performers, the common thread will be their best form coincided with playing next to Stones.

Getting stones fit(I know) would be huge for us right now.

Spot on - disgusting attitude particularly happens on the facebook groups but this does seem to be creeping into here to a lesser expent.

Stones / Walker / Ake / Bernardo - all amazing servants who have been core to the recent success. They are getting older and slowing. They will all leave within the next 2 years and should be leaving with our gratitude, not "dumped".
You and others are reading far too much into the use of a single word. “Dumped” was a poor choice on my part but I start that very sentence with “it’s a real shame”. Hardly the words of someone who doesn’t appreciate what Stones, Ake and others have done for us in the past.

If that were true we wouldn't have won a single title, let alone 4 in a row, as Stones couldn't play even 25 league games in his fittest seasons. Fortunately, we could win many games without him, like last season where he was injured or out of form and we had to play and win the last 9 games mostly without him. He played in the final vs United, but that was probably a mistake. Pep wanted to be nice.

Thats garbage. Utter garbage.

Truth is unacceptable for fanboys. Again, Stones couldn't start 25 league games in a season and we didn't need him to win the last 9 games last season, right? If we were as dependent on his presence as the original post suggested, we'd have won nothing, as he misses many games even in his good seasons.

fanpeople surely? Are we females not allowed to be fans? :-)

John Stones has been the perfect embodiment of the cool, slick, modern Pep Guardiola and Manchester City defender.

As I said on the Gundogan thread, for me a player gets a lot more leeway and credit in the bank not just based on their performances, but on the kind of representative they have been for the club and kind of man they are.

I am banned from the Kyle Walker thread, make of that what you will.
Same , seems you cant say anything about him that isnt glowing praise

he is not a leader ... needs a senior partner, his best performances were with Otamendi and Dias starting as the senior partner
Bollocks. Stones has made defensive partners look better for years. He carried Otamendi, who turned to shit as soon as Stones was injured. In fact the only defensive partnership where stones hasn't been the leader is probably next to Kompany. The very peak partnership with Dias was definitely 50/50

Couldn't agree more. You don't have to be shouting and bellowing all the time to be a leader. Stones when at his best has a great calming effect on the rest of the team. If he can somehow stay fit from now until the end of the season it will be huge for us (and hopefully allow us to move Akanji over to right-back).

Plus it would make my year!! *lol*

I had it for a year 20-21. Just came on suddenly, felt like shards of glass stabbing every time I walked, fortunately ( or not as the case may be) it was lockdown so couldn't go far anyway. I'm an FOC female, not a prime athlete so god knows how I suddenly got it. Never known pain like it, prefer toothache. Then suddenly in spring 21 it gradually disappeared. I do wonder if the enforced covid 'rest' actually helped the recovery. I do feel for John if this is what he has, it just permanently gnaws at you 24/7.
Similar situation for me, started a couple of years ago after a long walk, next morning tried to put my foot on the floor and wow, felt like I had a sharp stone in my slipper. Referred to physio, then foot specialist and had MRI, x-rays etc., is something to do with plantar, so to have laser guided injection, when they get round to it, so I’m sure Stones will have had that kind of injection already if he has had this problem with his foot. Yes, it does gnaw at you and I’ve done the ice, rest, tennis ball under the foot, even one of those gun things.

I think the fact that he has when fit, made every England Centre back next to him including Maguire play well shows he has something about him. Sadly his lack of fitness has become an increasingly serious issue.

I could see him playing in the center of the field as a cdm until this summer when we purchase a new midfielder.

And Kompany refers to Stones as the best defender he ever played with.

Feel for you mate, sounds like you had it far worse than me. It being lockdown with mine I got no help, just medicated with support sock, freeze spray and paracetamol. I got off lightly in comparison, so I send you my best and hope you do find some respite from it soon x
