5 reasons why City won't win the EPL - goal.com article

Shane Evans is to football journalism what Johnny Evans is to the grand old art of defending.

Give me Brian Glanville and Franco Baresi any day.

On another note, I've come across similar use of grammar when American journalists refer to bands: REM is splitting up, for example. They refer to the band/team as the individual unit rather than the collective of people. It is strange, though still grammatically correct. English lesson over, please continue.

"it will spend either too much or too little in the january market".....the most stupid line i have read in a while....

Tevez who?

CL is a burden for ManU and Chelsea aswell. And it hasn't affected too badly yet. As the table suggests.

goal.com are notoriously shit, but how desperate and bitter are they to even allow that to be published?!?

read the comments, 90% are backing US

Strange article, strange grammar .. written after a few beers I think.
written by an American I reckon - you can tell because they refer to football clubs in the singular rather than the plural so you see...

"Manchester City put in a performance for the ages when IT trounced Manchester United"
rather than
"Manchester City put in a performance for the ages when THEY trounced Manchester United"

and

"1. It won't stay this scorching hot all year"
rather than
"1. THEY won't stay this scorching hot all year"

and

"Manchester City needs Carlos Tevez."
rather than
"Manchester City need Carlos Tevez."

typical American bizarre reference to a club of many people

On a lighter note, the vast majority of ppl who visit goal.com are based outside the UK and most comments under the article so far are pretty pro-City, i think the world is starting to respect City more and more. The article itself was rubbish.

He's right about one thing though, we do desperately need Tevez. I mean, only 33 goals in the first 9 games....rubbish.
