because the majority of those who read the city related articles are "city fans"

It seemed a fair article to me, didnt really slag us off, just expressed an opinion that City may not win the league this season.

Im not sure we will either, due to champions league commitments, absence of Tevez and only having three main strikers as a consequence.

We have been lucky with injuries so far, although I do think we have the squad to cope if current performance levels are maintained by the likes of Milner and Balotelli who have improved considerably.

Strange article, strange grammar .. written after a few beers I think.
written by an American I reckon - you can tell because they refer to football clubs in the singular rather than the plural so you see...

"Manchester City put in a performance for the ages when IT trounced Manchester United"
rather than
"Manchester City put in a performance for the ages when THEY trounced Manchester United"

and

"1. It won't stay this scorching hot all year"
rather than
"1. THEY won't stay this scorching hot all year"

and

"Manchester City needs Carlos Tevez."
rather than
"Manchester City need Carlos Tevez."

typical American bizarre reference to a club of many people

This is even incorrect for American English. When we talk about a group of people, the correct way in our English is "they", not "it." Nobody over here says "it" is out to lunch when their office goes out to lunch. That's just bizarre from a poorly educated writer, like confusing "who" and "that."

A club can be referred to as singular because it is a single entity even though many people work for it, but when referring to the people themselves and not the entity as a whole, we use "they."

proof
The Vikings have struggled in the secondary at full strength, and they weren't even close to that.
<a class="postlink" href="http://espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=311023016" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=311023016</a>

tl:dr- this writer is stupid and this isn't even correct in America

I doubt it, City are pretty big in the Premier League now so their articles are bound to receive interest from a variety of football fans. Plus the neutrals loved the 6-1 shalacking United received.

We're in the Barclays Premier League. One reason we won't win the EPL is that there is no fucking thing as the EPL. It's a term used by tits who think they might confuse us with the SPL which is a semi pro league somewhere north of civilisation.

My guess is that the guy who wrote this article is just another bitter red who cannot get over the tonking that the rags got last Sunday.

Just hope the club will make a dvd of the game in time for the Christmas rush, as this would make a great Christmas gift for any city fans out their.
