5 subs from next season

Has having 3 subs made the games worse than in 68, no it hasn't, in fact I thing the game is better now than it was in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Have the FA cup and C/L games been worse this season because we have had 5 subs instead of 3, not in my opinion ,no. Just people gettingannoyed by a change we have already had that has made no difference to games.
If it makes no difference to games then why do it?

Not a fan, 5 subs will disjoint the game. 3 and a concussion sub is fine.

It will allow Pep to use his two goalkeeper subs rather than any young Academy players. One graduate - Phil Foden - to regular first team player in Pep’s tenure as City boss is a pretty poor return.

If it wasn’t for five substitutes in the aftermath of the lockdown, Tommy Doyle might never have played a first-team game for Manchester City.

It will give managers more leeway to bring on academy lads for a few minutes.

I"m all in favour of it.

Cue complaints that it's not fair as city have a better squad than everyone else.

The same logic applies to the starting eleven usually too but not as many complaints about that.

Will make it harder for us to exhaust teams possibly, in theory they can replace half their outfield team at half time and eliminate a huge chunk of fatigue of eleven behind the ball. For teams like us who expect to play 55+ games as season, can only help.

So I'm all in favour. More flexibility to change a game too, and keeps more players on their toes about keeping up standard on the pitch. At city at least...over the road it just means more players see the opportunity to put their feet up and share the load with an accomplice - they'll have a buddy system in place and if the sub is as poor as the original, then both get away with minimal effort!

i think the premier league missed a chance here and could have demanded using youth players like 2 youth players that has played for the EDS or youth teams in the past 2 seasons. it would stop the bigger club stocking up on quality players. and give the so called smaller clubs a equal chance

Good idea in theory but doesn't work in practice because it can't be rolled out to all teams. E.g. Brentford don't have an academy.

Potentially 10 stoppages for substitutions seems a bit over the top. Maybe should restrict ones in the last 10-15 minutes to cut down on them being used as a time wasting tactic.
