That is not the only way to sum up players though. In fact, I find it somewhat infantile and lacking in any nuance.
Oscar Bobb has less than thirty starts for the first team. He was out for a year, but is the former two-time Academy POTY. He has real potential and has obviously proven himself good enough to be given a chance. It is very unfortunate that as soon as we drop a point, some fans begin scapegoating players, and increasingly very young players, and often wingers.
A few weeks ago people would talk about our players not getting near Liverpool's squad.
You are speaking of a player with 30 starts for the team so we would need to travel back and look at Arsenal's players when they had fewer than thirty starts. And, for the vast majority of their squad, they are trophyless. Arsenal last won a trophy in 2023 - the Community Shield; and before that in 2020. They have the best squad now, arguably, but many of the players now at the top of the league have been several years in development, playing in a squad without the pressure of having to win, but still picking up experience.
Would you say that Rayan Cherki would get near Arsenal's squad?
How would you know? What is it based on?
