52 | Oscar Bobb - 2025/26

I do agree with this to some degree (and Savinho) the way we set up means our wingers are often by themselves.
Not only that but they are on an extremely tight leash in terms of what they are supposed to do. Their creativity is allowed in extremely limited situations. Other than that they are supposed to stretch the field and progress the ball a few yards and just not lose the ball in the process. All of Doks, Bobb and Savinho could be completely different players elsewhere.

I'll be convinced the problem lies with the system the day they show a completely different side with their national teams, for example. Then people will say, "Look, they play well for their national teams, but not here." But not finding the best shooting angle, or consistently shooting straight at opposing defenders, has nothing to do with the system; weak, underpowered shots have nothing to do with the system.

This applies to Obob, Savinho, and Doku; they simply lack a goalscoring instinct. Because they are weak at pressing and winning back possession, they are physically dominated by all their opponents in duels.

Bobb signalled he wanted the ball so many times today without getting it. Not surprised his confidence ia low with such low support from teammates. Yes, I agree he's not in his best form, but still he created chances for othera as well although not converted. He's no worse than most of the team at the moment. Everyone can be criticized for some part of their game one way or the other. We are on a zig zag path improving I hope and believe while the new players and the rest of the team gel.

Jeremy Doku much better on the other side than Oscar. Oscar lacks end product and doesn't get himself involved enough. Shouldn't be starting for us.

He's coming back from a long term injury. A leg break is no joke.

He will come good. Just needs time and patience which sadly many on here (and social media) seem to lack.

The mature fans will see that it’s mainly his first season as mainly one of the starters! Parked buses doubled up on doesn’t make it easy for any player

I think they’re basing it on the 3 or 4 seconds it took him to score that goal at Newcastle

Not surprising that there are nee-jerk comments about him on this thread, but just maybe Pep keeps playing him in order to try and build up his confidence ?

There are clearly signs that he can bring positives to the attack but that is down to close control rather than pace, and anybody expecting him to race away from defenders will be disappointed.

So far all Bobb has shown is that he is not a wide player...he needs to play centrally - that means he is competing against Foden, Cherki and even Marmoush....

He has time on his hands but he clearly aint at that level yet. He has a great skill set and clear talent but Im not sure he fits into this side at present...certainly not over those 3 ...and putting him wide right is a waste of time....he does very little

The way we play isnt favorable to Wingers. That said, id like to see him play some in the middle. Let him use some of his vision and passing.

Disagree mate.
The system is more than suited to wingers, the problem is we don't have any that are good enough.

You put Bayerns or PSG's wingers in our team and the way we play all of a sudden will look world class again.

We will never win a major trophy with Doku, Savio and Bobb on the wing. It might get you an FA or League cup.

If we didn't have Haaland this season and had a more mortal striker up top, we would be bottom half of the league, mid-table at best.

again if it was Bobb and 3 world class wingers it would be fine, but its the combination of all of them that get them all more abuse than they might have got a few years ago.

I take your point on Doku and Savio's shooting. But very few teams have their wingers in slow build ups where the opposition can afford to double team the wingers at will.

ThT sometimes is what our wingers deal with, especially when the are no overlapping support.

He looks shocking to me when he start but when he comes on with 20/25 min to go he looks decent against tired defenders Pep should stick to that for a bit

The lack of overlapping support is a big problem for me. There just isn’t any.

When you look at people clamouring for Khusanov to be the right back, what is he going to offer going forward?

I think we have become very cautious because we are so vulnerable to the transition and at the back.

To be fair players like palmer were written off as well. Younger players who have just started to break into the side take a while to develop and we need a bit of patience

We have 50/60m signings who seem to get more time

Coming back from injury and we need to be patient. I think the commentators were harsh on him last night - he wasn't as bad as they made out and swansea made it very very difficult for us (same as Villa and Monaco did)

Have him play with Nunes overlapping, youll see a better player.

Same for Doku and Marmoush on the left.

I don't think Pep would play anyone for the purpose of building up their confidence. Either you make us a better side or someone who does plays over you. The idea is to win games, simple as. Neither Bobb nor Savinho have shown they deserve to be in the first 11 at City.
