5th Round - confirmed Sunday 4pm kick off

I read hundreds of posts similar to this in 2012 and again in 2014 when we won the league both times and in far worse positions than we are now. Clearly if we have your mentality and many others then I would agree the league is gone. Fortunately many don't and I sure as he'll hope the players and management don't

I certainly don't believe when push comes to shove that Leicester will have the nerve to get over the line when it comes to crunch time, particularly when they have the rags, Everton and Chelsea in the last 3 games.
The " mentality" of a fan as expressed on a football forum should bear no relation to the mentality of the players or management of the club, although it doesn't look good at the moment.
But you are right in your comparisons with 2012 and 2014. If it happened then it could happen again, I just can't see it given our injuries and the way we have been playing for the last four months.
I sincerely hope I am wrong.

It will be if we don't win at least one of the next two games. There were also plenty of the we will still win it threads in 2013 and 2015..We didn't by a country mile.

Ultimately it doesn't matter what opinion fans have. Its the players that matter. Hopefully they still have some hunger left and the ones that are still fit can somehow find a way to get through this next 5 game period. I couldn't give a shit what happens in the Chelsea game as long as we do well in the others.

Haven't got a clue what team Pellegrini will pick for this one. Part of me thinks we'll rest the likes of Kompany, Toure, Silva, Aguero with the CL a few days later but we need to get some momentum from somewhere and Chelsea have to go to Paris midweek whereas we have a week off so we stand a good chance with our best eleven on the field. Think Kompany needs the minutes.

Wouldn't risk any key player.

Kompany, Otamendi, Yaya, Silva, Aguero - we can't afford the risk of any of these getting injured with the Capital One Cup Final looming.

Hart will be rested for Caballero.

Only senior players I think will play will be Caballero, Fernando, Demichellis and Ihenacho. Fill out the rest with EDS lads and tell them to treat it as a reserve game.

An educated guess at the starting XI given that we need a win for confidence but also players like Yaya need a rest and Kompany need minutes.

Caballero

Zabaleta - Kompany - Otamendi - Angelino

Fernando - Fernandinho

A Garcia - M Garcia - Silva

Aguero

Iheanacho off the bench.

Scoreline is anyones guess.

So shall we toss the Kiev match off as well, that comes before the Carling cup final ?
We seem to get more injuries in training than in match's
So lets toss that off as well.
You play your best available team at all times, you dont play on the "what if " scenario.

Yeah well it seems the manager agrees with me.

"My way is to try and play in every competition with the best team,” he said. “I think it [the FA Cup] is a serious competition and not a competition you can throw away. But at this moment, with so many injured players and the chance to try and get to the Champions League quarter-final for the first time, I think it’s a case where we are going to prioritise."

I obviously understand why he would prioritise, but I really disagree with it. I've always been in the 'play your best team for every game' camp. Worry about injuries after they've happened. A lot of the players have said it themselves - it's easier to keep performance levels up if you're playing regular football.
