I'm fine with him at centre half. Barely playing without getting a consistent run wouldn't be helping.

40m for a fourth choice was probably a bit much, though.

Loves going to ground

I'd imagine he'd be more steady alongside one of the other three - rather than Garcia.

Dias would have put a comforting arm around him. Around his fucking throat had he carried on playing like an amateur.
One of the problems was that he was next to Garcia and they are both too slow.
He was caught out against Chelsea last week too.
I didn't think it was a penalty but he was badly exposed for the 1st goal.
He improved 2nd half but i don't think he'll be any more than 4th choice next season and that probably isn't going to be enough for him, as he'll need to be playing to keep getting picked for his country.
I wouldn't be surprised if he left in the summer.

Average in pretty much everything.

Happy for him to stick around, but equally i wouldn't mind us recouping some cash and promoting a youth player.

He has been really bad so far but don’t forget he wasn’t signed to be 4th choice. He was signed to be 3rd choice and Garcia was supposed to stay as 4th. Then Garcia decided to leave and that had the knock-on effect of collapsing Stones’ move away from the club and he had to stay. The rest is history and Ake became 4th choice. He wasn’t signed to be that though, Garcia’s decision changed everything... in Stones’ case for the better and in Ake’s for the worst.

Ake’s City future probably depends on Laporte now. If Laporte is happy to rotate with Stones then Ake will leave within 12-15 months. If Laporte ends up leaving then Ake has an opportunity he needs to take. Of the two options I really hope it’s Laporte that stays.

Eric Garcia : 1.82m
Carlos Puyol: 1.78m

Regardless of height, Puyol had other defensive attributes that made him a top centre back. Garcia doesn’t have any of those to compensate for his lack of inches.

Regarding Aké, he’s a decent squad player and with a few more games next to a proper centre back I think he‘ll do ok here.
