Internationals can fuck off, we never escape them unharmed. He's not even had the chance to get fit for us this season and now hes looking like missing a long period.

If he's being stretchered off with a muscular injury, that's not a good sign at all, hopefully this isnt the case but that's generally an indication it's completely gone and a lengthy spell out awaits.

So now we're down to 5 defenders and Rico, going to be in a lot of trouble if stones can't maintain an extended period injury free whilst Ake's out. Been saying all summer we're too short in defence

We'll be fine. We've been in worse positions with fewer defenders and, as always, Pep has found a solution. Just seen Rico Lewis have a cracking game out on the left for England tonight - no reason why he can't do that for us. Wilson-Esbrand is still with the squad after a decent showing in pre-season and I'm sure if he needed to fill in for a few weeks then he would. We won a Premier League title with 100 points with Fabian Delph at left-back, a domestic treble with a 22-year-old Oleksandr Zincheko at left-back, and we've just won a treble without a recognised left-back in the entire squad. Whereas during the 19-20 season, when we had left-backs coming out of our arse, we posted our second-worst season under Pep. Whatever Nathan's unfortunate injury is, we'll cope without him and we'll be ready to welcome him back when he's fit again.

Bad news for us, but we have Gvardiol and i think Pep will be pleased seeing Rico play well on the left tonight.

Get well and come back soon Nathan lad!

Calm down. Pep has a cunning plan. Ederson as a defender, we'll be fine: )

Hindsight is obviously a brilliant thing but it did feel we were maybe one short at the back Nothing we can do about it just got to crack on but it didn’t feel like you needed a load of football specialists to realise 2 natural left sided defenders wasn’t enough for 70?+ games

Why the Fook are these players risking so much for pointless games. He’s been injured since start of the season why risk your place in city team is beyond me. Same for stones for me. Glad foden fooked off these games

i still don't understand internationals as a concept. why do the clubs accept that their valuable assets can go and be used by another business for a significant chunk of time when they could otherwise be maintained to a higher standard by resting.

Clubs unfortunately have no say in it, FIFA run the show and any attempt to stand up to the ludicrous schedule would be severely dealt with. For me the individual players have to show some common sense. Ake has a history of hamstring problems, should he be agreeing to two full games in a few days in early season, not in my view. Stones is the same, injury prone for us, but seemingly ever present for England and now becoming a peripheral figure at City as a result. He got hammered for it over the years, but how many times did Giggs turn out for Wales in friendly games? He had the right idea and it prolonged his top level club career. If only a few of ours would do likewise.
