Ake like the rest of them is a 2nd CB. There’s only Dias who is a leader. Without Dias, Ake and the rest are just scratching around looking for someone to tell them what to do. They all become individuals instead of defending as a unit.

Not sure what he was doing at their first goal, seemed to have one foot nailed to the ground, and his first pass of the match was a peach, right out the park! Those aside, he actually played well and genuinely looked distraught at their equaliser.

Pace and leaping ability aren't what they were. I think all the leg injuries might be taking their toll.

That’s hardly a glowing recommendation. They got relegated.

Ake is the best of a very average bunch back there. Gvardiol goes from the sublime to the ridiculous in the space of 5 seconds and Akanji has looked like he couldn’t give a toss all season.

The only time we look like we have an actual defensive unit, is when Dias is playing. He comes in, lifts the quality of those around him and gives us at least some organisation back there. Without him, they are all doing their own thing.
