6 | Nathan Ake - 2025/26

Injuries potentially have done for him, as mentioned above he seems to always look like he's no where near 100% fit when playing.

Hoping he can build up some fitness because it looks like he has lead boots at the moment. If he does get a bit of sharpness back - and he's only 30 - then it would do us the world of good

Rusty, and it cost us. Didn't look like he was communicating with gvardiol for their goal, which he should have been cos he could see that martinelli was running past Gvardiol's left shoulder

I noticed he doesn't have anything more than moderate speed now - through balls which he seems favourite to win quite easily usually end with him having to go to ground to put the ball out for a corner or throw in on the stretch. Perhaps he's worried that full out sprints will cause a hamstring or calf injury.

That's where I'm hoping a few games will help - give him a bit more faith in his body. If he is done it's a crying shame cause he's a cracking defender

I’ve got s lot of time for this guy. He’s a clsssy player and he’s proven it for us a few times. Hopefully he’ll get some minutes tomorrow and shake off the rust.

Both Ake and Stones can help us a lot if they stay fit. We have no choice but to rely on them, especially with Khusa starting at RB. If they manage to stay fit for 10 games, then their form will improve significantly. Staying fit is the task.

He’s been great for us since he signed. Injuries have hampered him, but when fit he saved us many points with an uncanny knack of clearing off the line and scoring from corners and set pieces. A shame some can’t recognise this. I know Pep and the Netherlands’ coach both rate him highly in the dressing room and in training.

People that don't recognize Ake's contribution since the day he's signed aren't worth listening to.

Well, when I'm the only person left on here seeing this, I will continue to maintain it: I see a really classy player in Ake. Quick, composed, able to play a decent long ball from time to time, good awareness of what's going on around him in the box. Starts many attacking moves from deep. Does the simple things tidily and well.
It is truly tragic that he's had the injury record he's had. Could have been one of our greats at the back.
