For those mentioning the robbery and that having an effect on him wanting to move, also worth remembering that he signed a new deal after the robbery and thanked the club for supporting him massively.
You understand that things can change in life. You can be happy one month and not the next. Him signing a deal just got him more cash and secured even more for the future, he would be stupid not to take it. He knew full well that if he wanted a move all he has to do his kick up a fuss, as he has done here.

But that’s an option to buy and they’ll probably never take up that option

Lets wait and see. In the end it will depend on how he performs over there.

Bayern are shithouses, there not going to pay 70 million euro's at the back end they will return him,and were back to square one

It's up to City to set the price for the option at a level that the loan club can afford, Bayern aren't going to inflate it.

I suspect given the good relations between Pep and Bayern, it's a real figure, that they would pay if he's excellent.

However I also think it suits City and Jorge Mendes as a benchmark for what the club values Cancelo at. They're saying to Madrid, Barcelona etc that he's available for roughly €70m in the summer if Bayern don't go for it, and Bayern agreeing to the option sort of validates the valuation.
