I am worried Txiki wont be able to get a better LB than him. what we do for the LB position in last few years since the Kolarov/Clichy duo is as bad as it gets.

we had Delph, Laporte, Ake, Mendy, Zinchenko, Cancelo, Gomez filling in that role, but none of them is a true LB apart from maybe Mendy who is a tremendous flop.

fair play to Pep he still managed to sort the issue one way or the other but we should just invest into a proper LB who is great defensively, has pace and good on the ball and can put in some great crosses.
we missed out on Cucurella albeit not sure how great he is to be fair, based on his Chelsea time so far, not sure he would play a lot if Chilwell would be fully fit (which he is not).

At this point we might as well build one up from the EDS

Josh Wilson-Esbrand.

But, it's safe to assume that Pep doesn't rate him that much.
We definitely need a starting LB and have done for many season.

What I find confusing about the back-up LB situation is we had JWE who showed a bit pre season and then spent 10m+ on Gomez, who’s not really a LB and is being kept out of the team by central defenders.

The hate this guy is getting is amazing. He contributed a lot for the last 2 titles by playing more than any other defender and being one from just 2-3 City players making the PFA team of the season in back to back seasons.

Pep will have to play him, and also Bernardo, Foden, Walker, into form. My feeling is we won't win anything without Walker and Cancelo. Right now, Ake and Rico are midtable level as FBs. They can help us in many games, not in the most decisive games though. Ake and Walker wouldn't be great either, for obvious reasons.
Was only last season he was being heralded as one of the best left backs in the world.
now that was obviously going overboard as hes not actually that good a defender, but when on song he’s a very good player and contributes a lot to the team. Equally when he’s not playing well he stinks
we‘re a better team with an in form cancelo.

If he can't get into the team or bench in front of Gomez there is little hope for him, another player that needs a load and game time at a high level.

only if he is fully invested and committed in the team

Cancelo in our team as a left back is one of the best in the world, he is capable at defending and generally does well enough against the big names. The problem with him is when he does drop a stinker, it's a horrible one. To compound that even more his form has been shit, which has been doubled down on by Pep playing him at right back as well as the national team. I can imagine losing your spot to fucking Diego Dalot is a massive knock on your confidence and he hasn't looked the same since. I've said it a few times but i thought he looked closer to his usual self against the rags, he should have had a pen and i thought he tied a few of them into knots. Hope he gets a shot at left back tonight and shows us something.

This. On song he’s one of the most eye-catching fullbacks in the world, with his his strengths easily outweighing his weaknesses. A flamboyant player who adds excitement to an enterprising team. (I’m old fashioned enough to believe football is at least in part still an entertainment business.)

Unfortunately he’s been off the pace recently and so people have turned against him.

I’ve long been an admirer but my main worry is his apparent petulance, which might determine whether his heart is still in it.

A mercenary type, and, now he is discontented again,it's showing.

Fucking hell we were blessed with Zaba.

How's he a mercenary just because he's discontented for not playing? A mercenary doesn't care if he's getting that much game time as long as he's getting paid a fat check at the end of the month. Cancelo has always showed to be very professional and committed to City and his stats, specially in the last season, prove that(most distance covered per game, most successful interceptions and tackles...) but most importantly how involved he has always been with the team in and off the pitch, the passionate way how he always celebrates the goals with his team mates...

The way pep said Mr Cancelo tells you everything about Cancelo and his attitude when not playing every game the Portugal coach dropped him in the World Cup and he moaned about it in public! Bet Pep wants him out as soon as possible
