7 | Omar Marmoush - 2025/26

been saying it for a while..while he is a decent player, if Haaland starts this guy doesnt fit anywhere in the team.....

a very strange signing. who it is pointless to have if Haaland starts as he certainly aint a wide player in this team

He doesn't really suit Pep's style. Alvarez played that role better.

Marmoush needs to play as a second striker behind Haaland.
It’s impossible to play a two-striker system with Haaland in the team. He exclusively occupies the central areas. Álvarez and Palmer have both improved since leaving City. Pep was stifling their creativity; both of them are now specialist free-kick/penalty takers for their teams

Either pep has told them to not play the risky pass or the players lack all imagination and creativity. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a blend of both.

I actually think they just don't think he'll get on the end of them.

So many times when the pass IS played he just gets beaten to the ball or knocked off it.

I anticipate he'll be gone in the summer, simply doesnt fit into the team in any position and I suspect he'll probably want more of a role than he currently has. Would love to be wrong but i don't think it's about giving him time, I don't see things suddenly clicking, he just isn't a good fit. He'll be a good, perhaps even very good player somewhere.

If we get close to what we paid for him back, it'll have been a worthwhile signing as he undoubtedly made an instant impact and helped us secure CL football last season.

Never felt sorry for a City player but I'm starting to for Marmoush as he's criticized endlessly here, yet he's doing without any real service to have a meaningful impact.

It keeps coming back to.. we're too much side to side and we don't get the ball to our strikers.

There's definitely a player in there for us.

But not as a sole striker having to play the Haaland role in a 4231.

We saw success with him at the end of last season when Haaland was injured, Pep was forced to go wide fullbacks and used 4222 with two wide strikers and Marmoush flourished.

There's no reason Marmoush can't do this with Haaland or Doku, again.

Looks the type of player that probably found his confidence and level at Frankfurt where he can play every week fighting for Europa Leagues and going for top 4 in Germany, and knowing that if he has a bad game the scrutiny isn't greatly over the top.

I don't think he is technically good enough to play as one of the 3 behind Haaland, and he isn't the type of player that can come in and out of the team to replace Haaland when needed.

He will 100% push for a move in the summer if it carries on I reckon.

That second striker role is probably the hardest position to fill at City, because you won't play every week because of Haaland, but you need to be good enough to get 15-20 a season in all competitions when called upon.

Tbf most of those passes into his movement would be spotted and played on a Sunday morning by Jeff from the Dog and Duck. City players are far too clever for that shit.

So fucking frustrating, passing for passing’s sake with no malice or menace whatsoever. It was the same last season, only changed towards the end when they finally realised it was ok to play a forward pass into the player highest up the pitch. Baby steps and all that. Pep would rather we had possession than score goals

He did a pretty good job of it before his injury? How have his weeks out and lack of chances in the first team since changed his ability?

He gave us a spark when we needed it last season and he capitalised on being in a scruffy city side. Now I don’t see how he fits. I think he will leave in the summer.

Should be ok because atm without big erl we are not good enough for europa . Don’t think people realise the problems we have and pep as now gotta start sorting this mess out as he gets the plaudits for when we win so he needs to taken into account when it’s wrong .
