We should sell him, but not because I think he is shit or that he can't go back to a good level. We should sell him because for 300k/week we can do better. It's as simple as that.
This Foden is already a better player than any of Sterling's version(only his 18/19 form has similar level). And compared to this Mahrez only his 18/19 is clearly superior and his 17/18 is similar. So if he gets back to his 17/18 level, he would be competing with Mahrez for a spot and it would depend on he opposition which player is the best option. For 300k/week that's just not sufficient. We need a star, not a great role player.
Also, a player with 10 G, 10 A can have a better season than a player with 40 G, 15 A. Football is much more than just your end product. Every manager would take Zidane, Xavi or Iniesta over Lampard, who has more than twice the goals than all of them.
For Sterling, he pretty much can only have a great match if he scores or assists. Why? Because his strenghts(movement and pace) are only helpful if his end product matters. He's not gonna give you great and impossible passes, he's not gonna dribble 3,4 players and break the defense; he's not gonna give you brilliant link-up play(Mahrez, KDB, Foden for the first goal today for example); he's not gonna give you great shooting out of the box.
Just ask yourselves, can Sterling be the best player on the pitch, consistently, without scoring goas or assists? No, but KDB can, Foden can, Mahrez can, Bernardo can, Gundogan can. That's why goals and assists are not as important for them as they are for Sterling.
