Without his pace, which he barely uses these days, it’s unlikely he’d be a professional footballer as he technique is just poor

I agree about his technique being poor. The issue now is not many games do we play whereby the oppision gift us space to allow pace to be utilised.
There are always situations even against parked buses where we have opportunities to counter attack.

Sterling rarely lets loose with his pace in this situations.

He knows (you’d like to think he has the awareness that...) he has no skill or trickery to get past players (and certainly not WanBissaka who must fucking love playing against Sterling, he has Raz in his pocket every time he plays him), he’s not strong enough to hold people off, he doesn’t knock the ball into space to run on to it... he either runs into the defender and loses the ball or falls over and loses the ball.

And don’t get me started on his inept control of the ball (invisible more like!) when it’s played through to him from behind. If it’s not played in front of him to run onto like de Bruyne’s pass for his goal in the Fulham game, he never ever controls the through ball if he has to get the touch to project it forward.

There are always situations our fast players can use their pace. Sterling just isn’t good enough to do it.

Hopefully Kun is back soon, it’s time Jesus (with his incredible work rate - which Sterling has also lost!) had a run of games on the left instead of Sterling.

Yep, agree with all of that. I said in the early pages of the rags pre match thread, would have played jesus on the left with either Torres / Kun in the middle.

Not popular, but would look to move Sterling on

I think now is the time. He’s given us some really good years but much like players like Nasri, Džeko, Tevez, Sané, Kolarov, Clichy, Lescott, Barry, de Jong, Negredo, Balotelli... it’s either time that they want to leave or we need to sell them.

We need a mini overhaul, some unpopular decisions need to be made and i also feel he's top of the list.
Unfortunately, true.

I was thinking that with leading players like Komoany and Silva leaving, and Fernandinho and Kun soon to be leaving, that Sterling would rise up and be our next leader with de Bruyne.

But he’s just not done it. In fact, he’s shrunk into being just another player in our squad.

Yes, he’s scored a lot of goals for us. But would Son, Mane or Aubemyang have scored any fewer given the opportunities Raz has?
