If he stays another year at this level his time will start to look poor. He has been here 7 seasons including this one and has had 3 good seasons

Given Sterling’s historical performances at Anfield in front of a packed house, it would be a very brave decision for Pep to pick him tomorrow, especially given Sterling’s current confidence levels and form.

Could be a huge boost for Sterling if he’s picked in the XI and an absolute masterstroke from Pep if it paid off. The only way he’s going to regain that flying form is by playing, but surely the sensible option for tomorrow is for him to have some impact off the bench.

The poor lad gets judged more harshly than the other players by you lot. Whenever he doesn't score and we drop points you all blame him for it , if others players also don't score they get a pass in here.

Well because all the other players offer you more than just scoring goals. Ball retention(Bernardo, Mahrez, Grealish), dribbling(Foden, Jesus, Grealish), passing(KDB), pressing and energy(Bernardo, Foden, Jesus), shooting outside the box(KDB, Foden, Mahrez)… if Sterling doesn’t score what does he bring?

I feel his fans are so oblivious to this aspect. They reduce it everything to: Sterling scored so he had a good match.

well you cant honestly tell me he wasnt played out of his natural position with all the current players we have

Good luck to him this weekend if he's selected.
I'd give my right nut for a win and both for a win with Sterling scoring the winner in front of those cnuts

People have been saying "he's a couple of goals away from being back to his old self" for such a long time...yet he got goals for england and yet still looked his usual self for city upon return...

He was brilliant in pep's first few seasons(which we were at our most lethal imo) but he's had it especially with our current style.

To turn things around goals wont be the factor it will be a complete change in our strategy. That wont happen though because last time we played to his strengths we were leaking goals for fun.
We could easily have brought a striker and changed style again , peps style is not set in stone, it is too soon to write any of them off

Not want Sterling to start tomorrow. Than again he has formerly started at Anfield while being in great form, and that didn’t work out. We can just hope for the opposite to happen if Pep does decide to play him. I think most of the Cityfans want nothing more than Sterling to score tomorrow. But even his biggest fans will realise the odds are against that to happen right now.

Would be very disappointed if he starts tomorrow. Happy to see him play a part at some point but if the front 3 is anything other than Foden, Grealish and Jesus, injuries notwithstanding then it'll be a huge gamble by Pep and one that could give his few detractors on here all the ammunition needed to make this place a no go zone mañana.

the elephant in the room, for me, is how and why he is selected, given Pep's reputation for ruthless pragmatism. My way or the highway, sums up his attitude to managing players. There is a sizable list of players he has treated this way. From outside looking in, ego and attitude being the factors rather than skill.
Is Pep trying to prove a point by continuing to select Raz?
Even a hat-trick against the buswreckers will not erase the performances of the recent past, too many unforced errors, too many times losing possession through poor ball-control, things that pure effort cannot atone for.
Imo for the lad's sake and the team's sake, a fresh start seems the best option.
Apart from a handful of haters on BM, the vast majority of us really want the lad to be successful, to go back a couple of pages and be what he once was.............f'kin matchwinner, if only eh....
Is it not possible that there's a legitimate tactical reason as to why he's being selected, and people are just refusing to acknowledge it?

He is not a striker , it sets him up to fail month after month and wont get his form back playing there
Not saying he is but for the left he’s probably currently 3rd choice. As we don’t have a striker it’s a position up for grabs. Would prefer him on the right if anywhere with Jesus down the middle but that won’t be happening either.

His performance levels haven’t varied much for the last 18 months irrespective of what position he’s played in, and players as out of form (compared to what he’s capable of) as he’s been don’t tend to have much bargaining power in respect of the roles they’re handed
