But he did. He created a goal, put Jack through for an easy finish, and then got into loads of positions to score through his good movement.

That is playing well. The goals will come if he plays like that every week.
Yeah, he payed well, but playing well with a lot of space and when your team is winning 3-0 is meaningless unless you are an academy player. If Ake makes a hat trick and saves 3 goals, he would still be the 4th CB.

Honestly should have had a hattrick in the short time he was on the pitch. However, he was doing the right things, made the right runs and offered a threat in behind. More unlucky tonight than the total shit we've seen from him recently.
what does it even mean "should have had a hattrick". does it mean "should have had a hattrick if he wasn't so shit in front of goal"? because if so, then he should win the ballon d'or every season because he "should" score 10 times a game. but he doesn't and that's the problem.

Carry on with the assists, stick to tap ins only and the form of the season before last will return.

But he did. He created a goal, put Jack through for an easy finish with a really nice ball over the top that the "no technical ability" brigade will ignore, and then got into loads of positions to score through his good movement.

You could have copied and pasted that pretty much every week for the last 18 months. In fact you probably have:-) We'll maybe not the the playing well bit. One week you will be right and the told you so post from you will be genuinely hilarious.

He's just lacking confidence in front of goal, doesn't help when our own fans can't wait to jump on him. Granted it's gone on a while but it's also not as bad as some are making out.

He's a wide man who suppose to chip in with the odd goal but since we've been playing with a false 9 it's made his role a lot harder in my opinion. He's better out wide when we have a proper striker up front. That's why he did better for England in the Euro's.

Other than that he did well when he came on, good assist for the Palmer goal.

I should have beaten Usain Bolt. I had the gear. Was good in the blocks and my reaction time was world class.

If only I could run fast I would have had him definitely.

If you watch it in slow motion the really funny one where he flicks and dribbles it miles wide look what he mouths afterwards.

If that hilts from bluemoon hadn't said I was a bad finisher I would have scored that.

Jesus wept this place:-)

How does fans posting on an Internet forum not help him. At the games, he has always got the support

He's suffering from being asked to play a lot narrower than is natural to him, onus is always on him to score when he's playing as he's usually our most attacking player out there.

I think he does well once we get a proper striker in again.

It means there was 3 opportunities where you'd expect to score more than not in that situation. doesn't mean he should score every single time though.

the effort he had from Palmers flick was fine, the one mignolet saved at his near post from sterling's left foot he did little wrong, the one where there was 4 of them waiting for a tap in if he isn't passing for a tap in he absolutely has to score. The one where he tried to dink it over mignolet he has to finish.

A good cameo which could've been excellent had he scored.

He can't keep missing 4 great chances though and should've laid Grealish on for one.

Game situation plays a big part in people’s assessment here. I actually he thought he looked more lively than he has all season when he came on and it was a great pass to Palmer. In front of goal he was woeful.

In a comprehensive victory people will lean towards the positives because his woeful finishing didn’t cost us anything. If that game finishes 0-0 then his same performance gets ripped to shreds.

The positives were there but the bar has been set so low, people are looking for any glimmer of hope. A long way to go.

The simple fact is we have been saying for ages he has great movement and is quick but his technical ability on the ball and finishing is very bad. The way we play and against packed defences doesn't suit him. Some posters won't have it because they think admitting it makes them less of a blue. It's quite sad.

Anyhow tonight he comes on we are winning comfortably and the game opens up. Guess what happens?

His movement and speed gets him in good positions and his ability with the ball means he cocks them up. He has done exactly what we have said he does.

But no the same posters are like err yeah but he did well apart from the end bit like. Haha quality.

Mr head meet Mr wall.

but.. that's the problem that you "expect" him to score more than not, but he *doesn't* score them. ever, in fact! which renders everything you said meaningless.

if he had 3 opportunities like that a game and scored 1, he'd still be incredibly wasteful, but would score a ton and be a great player.

but he scores like, 0.1 of those.

Came on, got an assist and got himself a few chances.

Any other player in our squad does that and we're all calling it a nice cameo. People are acting like he was somehow bad because they just plain don't like the guy.

That Cole Palmer goal everyone is rightly going on about wouldn't happen if not for Raheem.
