Game was where? *** Checks note*** Away.

Against a bottom feeder? ***Checks note again*** No, Chelsea. Decent team

Well, that's certainly above his level. I guarantee he had a shit game as usual. ***Checks note again*** Nope... MOTM performance.

Well! Someone is certainly clueless. ws01, you be the judge :)

You're an absolute idiot.

This was a good thread on Twitter about our player's average positioning. Gundo and Bernardo together in the free 8 roles really flourished today.

I know it’s the gundogan thread, and he was superb, but that graphic illustarating bernardos position tells us why was he also so good today.

one more point in the graphic, look how balanced the team is. Perfect.

My posts in this thread mark me out as a big fan of what Gundogan offers. In some respects I definitely overegged some of his performances earlier in the season as I was desperate to be proven right about him.

Yesterdays performance means I have no need for hyperbole, his was quite simply world class, the very player I thought we had signed when he arrived. He was composed, efficient and at the centre of everything we did so well in the first half. He is a player who makes the game look easy, I like players who have the capacity to make a complicated game look simple, he did that and more yesterday.

There were mitigating factors, Kev playing in a more forward role, Bernardo's blur of movement, Rodri's immense solidity, Raheem's tireless running off the ball, Foden's impish precociousness, Cancelo's constant availability. Zincho's clever awareness of space all contributed to make the make Gundogan's job look almost effortless at times.

He was the conductor of the orchestra, Kev was the virtuoso, Dias and Stones were the big bass drums, the first half was a tour de force as the great orchestra burst into life with a sublime rendition of why when we are in the mood we are simply magnificent to behold.

Our midfield had Kante and Kovacic chasing shadows, Mount was invisible and that strangled the supply to their forward line. Chelsea are a very good side and in the first half yesterday they could not live with us we were that good.

I am sure though there will be disappointment, we slacked off in the second half and the defence and especially young Zack will hopefully be a little sore at conceding a goal late on as it marred what would have been the perfect away performance. The slacking off was perhaps understandable given the Covid situation but our game management was superb and can a keeper ever have had such an easy debut away at Chelsea.

The last post I made in this thread I stated that dare I say we are starting to run into form, my word we have and it was exhilarating. The rest of the Premiership must have looked on and thought my word they are back and how do we counter them when they are in that mood.

It is the same old story, Posters call someone shite for years, Someone who has always played at the top level, for the best managers, at the top of the international game. When these posters are shown as nincompoops, they resort to , "needs to do it at the top level", followed by " needs to do it more often", or "needs to score more"
Now I need to go to to the Sterling thread, will be the same , despite his immense contribution yesterday.

While some members have the ability to be unbiased, analytical and open minded in respect of a players contributions, and will offer the relevant amount of criticism and/or praise when judging a performance relevant to that moment in time.

There is nothing worse on a debate forum than a person who refuses to accept the opinion of others, and then attempts to shout such down with insult.

I think what has been missing is confidence. He had two major injuries and while the physical recovery is grueling enough, arguably even tougher is the mental rehabilitiation. Will my body hold up to the daily rigmarole, what happens when someone comes in with a crunching tackle, do I still have my basic skills, am I still able to take risks.

Gundogan seems to have scaled that mental mountain and is now playing with a freedom and confidence we havent seen before in a city shirt. Pep must know what he is capable of, hence why he gave him a long run to get back to his peak level, despite the constant carping among our resident forum "experts".

Same reason why he has been a midfield fixture in arguably Europe's top international team.

The arrogance that you show when you think you know more than Pep with your unbiased analytical open minded analysis of elite footballers is farcical and I would not dream of wasting my time in trying to shout it down with insult. I was merely replying to a poster who seems to respect the knowledge of pep guardiola.
