By the standards he has set,he struggled initially and couldnt quite dictate and set the pace as he frequently expertly does. However, once things clicked and the game settled down a tad,his influence grew and he was as instrumental in our victory as the other 10 warriors.

The way the team now play has evolved to a style that suits Gundo. We no longer play quickly getting the ball forward as fast as we could.

Now it is all about control and shape. Gundo is perfect for that and has taken the role of David Silva in being able to find spaces in tight areas. Unlike KDB and Phil he is not a risk taker much like Bernado and helps the team retain the ball under pressure

The fact he has a holding midfield player alongside him as helped him use his creative skills much more than when he was playing the holding role

I've found that he'd been sloppy in the opening periods of a few games now. Not quite getting his passing right, not quite making the right decisions but then gradually settling in and becoming a real force. His acceleration with the ball is quite remarkable from what we saw last season. He's really worked on something there, or has confidence in his body now.

Against Chelsea he will be vital. They come flying out to press and will do the same against us, so a quick turn from Ilkay could instantly see us get through that and create chances and score goals. In the FA Cup we didn't manage to get through their press enough and they were happy to let us pass from side to side before pouncing and counter attacking. I don't see their tactics in the final being any different. But our lineup will be quite changed from that game and we should be able to play through them.

We just need to ensure we don't have a nervous start where we give the ball away through poor passes in the wrong areas. It tends to be in the central areas when we are passing out from the back that we can go wrong. A ball into the middle from wide being under/over hit, or Gundogan/Rodri/Ferny taking a little bit too long to release the ball. The benefit is we defend pretty well as a unit when in that position. Their goal against us was purely down to Steffen wrongly coming out of his goal and giving them it on a plate.

I think that doesn't reflect that Gundo can play far up the pitch and score if Pep wants it,
or - like PSG - play deeper and keep the mid tight.
Whatever he is supposed to do, he will permanently move in the right position, at a low pace, and read the game for chances to exploit.

You can say he isn't running quickly - but saying Gundo is a symbol for slow play would be false.
He can control the pace, if he WANTS to. But there a not many players I would give the ball to initiate the perfect counter. Kev does at high risk, Foden and Zin have a great view too, and regularly struggling when initiating a quick break are Raz and Jesus. Gundo looks for the best and quickest solution at lowest risk and maximum control if you like. Quality management.

I forgot how good the goals vs West Brom were. That touch for the first was sublime.

And of course the Spurs goal... for comedy value alone. Saucy.
Defenders sprawling on the deck befuddled by great skill always makes for a more enjoyable goal !!
