On form he is our best academy graduate and also our best midfield academy graduate. Whatever is ailing Phil and Cole, they need to shake it off and reassert themselves.
An on-form Foden is better as he offers more in the attacking end of the pitch. He is currently in a slump but he has put in some amazing performances since breaking through. They are very different players and Rico deserves enormous credit for taking to first team football so well.
I just wish Lavia could have been given a chance too as he is shaping really well out Southampton.

I wonder if Rico's development is why we let Lavia go? because he's playing next to Rodri in midfield and his game seems suited to that role.
I luv this kid, he's been great and a total surprise this season.

The next generation of full back. Freakish the level he is playing at. God knows what he can be in 5 years. Dani Alves who can defend aswell

Must tie him down to a new contract as soon as reasonably possible. Dunno when his ends.

Generational gets thrown around alot, many players don't deserve the tag, he does, he will be the best RB in the world.

Part of that is the environment he grew up in for sure, with his dad's boxing career and how he instilled a sense of "fight" in him.

And the reason he is beating Walker and Cancelo is due to that but also let's not underrate him, he is overall a gifted footballer first and foremost, rather than discussing his position.

He has mastered: Shielding the ball with his low center of gravity, Ball Control, Dribbling, Tackle Timing, Positioning to receive in the final 3rd, middle 3rd and initial 3rd, Short Passing, all of this combined with a sense of "fight".

His only "Weakness", in terms of not being elite in are: Crossing and Shooting. His speed also isn't elite, but that can't really be improved.

His shooting is actually pretty good, especially for a fullback/midfielder, but relative to a forward it is not elite (nor should it be), and his crossing is alright and should be the priority to improve in over shooting for his position.

Basically, Rico is atleast good at everything that you can think of regarding football, and amazing at like 80% of those.

He’s five minutes into his first season in the first team.

Let’s not over analyse his strengths or weaknesses and allow him to carry on doing what he’s doing.
He’s already improved loads since his first appearance and no doubt will continue to grow, strengthen and develop but some of the comments on here, both positive and negative, are a bit much given how many minutes he’s played in the first team.

I’m really enjoying watching him on the pitch and you can see how he grows in confidence with every appearance. He’s so lucky that he’s got a manager who’s pretty much seen it all and will hopefully allow him to flourish at his own pace.

if that was the case then we wouldn't have spunked 42m on Phillips.

Rico started at RB then Pep believed he could handle the inverted RB role and boy now he is just doing everything, times in that game he was in the CAM position when we were attacking, 18yo RB lol amazing, I can't wait to see him just get better as he fully matures (if that is even the right term)

More youth in the team, my dream of a virtually all home grown City team may well happen at some point :)

Yeah but they obviously saw Rico's potential so could afford to sell Lavia.

I doubt anyone really saw him playing this big of a role but boy hasn't he taken his chance!
This is Roy of the Rovers stuff (ask yer Dad!)

Keep it up lad!

I can almost guarantee that they didn't sell Lavia because of Rico Lewis waiting in the wings.

As for the Roy of the Rovers reference, I'll just take that as a compliment without asking my Dad or the Kemps.
