Wouldn't shock me to see him get an England cap by the end of the season. He's so good. Even threw out a wild stepover towards the end!

he's been asked to play a very niche role at the moment - i think for his own development, it would be good to see him play as a more conventional RB occasionally.
Doesn't need to he undertands the Pep full back role and has the ability to play better than any of our fulbacks under Pep have.

Couldn't really be doing any better, he's proving brilliant and for Pep to turn to him in a big game when change was needed - what a vote of confidence. Hopefully we start playing better soon and we can see him getting forward more and attacking the box as well.

If he's going to play RB for England he'll need to show he can play in a system that doesn't have him spending 70% of the game as a defensive midfielder.

I also think he'll need to be able to go on the overlap and play the traditional role as well as the inverted role if he's going to be our starting RB long term.

He's a system player whose contributions help the team to function properly, as Pep's insistence on playing him clearly shows. Good that we didn't sign another, more established FB in summer. Rico is a valuable member of a great squad.

We should make the most of him till he starts to get pimples. Then it'll all fall apart.

He definitely links the defence to the midfield better than Walker. In theory it should stop us being caught on the counter as much because Lewis is more comfortable on the ball.

On the other hand, we're going to be more exposed defensively when we do give it away because there isn't a better defender in world football at stopping counter attacks than Kyle Walker.

It's a difficult trade-off for Pep.

So composed for one so young. He also receives the ball really well and always looks to manipulate the ball into space whist he is receiving it. Very excited about him but I don’t want him rushed into the team every week. Well done Rico

Pity he is not a Lb -:)

Paulo Maldini was actually right footed left back :)

Don’t give Pep any ideas

Well Philipp Lahm was a top class left back for his first half decade of first team football despite being right footed, like I said above Paulo Maldini was also right footed too as was Clichy... In fact most the best left backs of all time are actually right footed if you look into it so who knows, wouldn't say it'd be wise in the short term but it also wouldn't surprise me if Pep tries Rico at left back, he certainly has good awareness and positional sense while very assured on the ball under pressure, he passes the ball well and is agile it could definitely be something we see at some point.

It probably won't happen anytime soon just due to age even if it does as Pep will wanna protect him, Rico though probably has all the necessary qualities and tactical intelligence to do well there.

Listening to Peps interview after the game, I think we may see a lot more of Rico before the end or the season

I think we need to support him a bit more in that right back position ie CBs being a bit more aware that we are open down there when Rico is in the midfield position, but the speed of play he brought to us last night was quite eye opening

There were a couple of moments where he took the ball on the half turn and could have perhaps gone forwards into 10 yards of space, but opted to play a bit safer, but that will come with more experience and confidence, the main benefit was the speed in which he plays at as I think we can lack that at times
