82 | Rico Lewis - 2024/25

Brilliant goal but possibly his worst ever performance before that. I've never seen a footballer so poorly use his body. It's like he intentionally throws himself into a physical battle that hes never going to win.

He's the same size and build as bernardo yet bernardo is one of the hardest players to disposses in the game proving size isn't the issue or an excuse, he's just piss poor at using his body.

It's no surprise palace we're actively targeting him today. They've identified he's a liability and they pounced on him time and time again and he continued to lose the ball. Doesnt have any defensive awareness, no pace, shows nowhere near the same desire to get back as he shows to get forward, most of these are fundamentals of the game for which there's no excuses for not being able to do them.

He's neat and tidy with ball if given space and has good movement off the ball but that doesn't even begin to cover the major basics he lacks.

The upside is a lot of these issue are basics, they're teachable but until he learns them he shouldn't be anywhere near our side.

I'd drive down to London myself and pick Zinchenko up if it meant him replacing Lewis in the side.
Can’t rewrite history and pretend Zinchenko is a good defender, hasn’t been able to break into arsenals side and we took that stupidly high offer for him without thinking because he’s actually not very good at all.

Lewis isn’t a defender. Too small physically which he can’t help. He uses his body the best he can.

Imo he’s a luxury in the pockets player. We can facilitate him when we have the physicality round about him but not at the moment.

Walker or Lewis shouldn’t start in our best XI. Gvardiol - Ake - Dias - Akanji. With Stones in when he’s fit.

Would he get into the Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea first teams.

Sadly he wouldn't. Too lightweight for the midfield , maybe as a full back.

Good to have on the bench as he can play anywhere, but with Gundo and Walker the results aren't coming.

Desperately need players back.

He took his goal really well but effectively we played with ten men the whole game.

It’s clear the other players don’t trust him and avoid passing to him unless it’s absolutely necessary.

He consistently loses possession and puts us on the back foot.

He also needs to control all the arm waving. He’s twenty and acts like he’s the finished article. And running up to the referee and shouting his mouth off was only going to have one outcome and also leave himself vulnerable for a second yellow, deserved or not.

Today he scored but I really don’t see what he offers. Most of his passing is backwards and most often back to the person who passed to him.

He is a tidy player but nowhere near good enough to start for us but he will have a good career.

To who? I don’t think the queue for taking on a weak midget, who is neither a defender or a midfielder, will encircle the Etihad.
Haha..

Finally, some fans here are thinking like me

Good job lads <3
