Name me the player that played regularly for City since 2005 that’s worse than Rico Lewis. Im not even being a prick, im thinking back but I genuinely can’t think of one. Funny how all the Rico fanbois who disagreed, still haven’t given me a player. You know he’s got 49 PL appearances right? it’s been a bloody long time since we’ve started a player as bad as Rico. You have to go back a long time, definitely before the takeover
If you are a City fan, I'd be surprised.
If you are a football fan, then making such a post about a 20-year-old is, to me, rather sad.

I wonder if he could go back to his origins.

He was a wide attacking RB in the academy.

He even scored against Bayern in a friendly in this role.

Nunes can do it because he has pace and power, so itll be more difficult for Lewis im guessing.

Maybe the CM role very deep is better, hard to pin down.

He will get minutes, whether people like it or not as we must rotate to manage minutes.
Maybe in the short term, but medium and longer term I think his future lies elsewhere if he wants to be a regular starter.

I said regular game time.
Should probably have said since the takeover tbh so 16 years, regardless even then all those player you mentioned did not have the game time afforded to them like Lewis.
Kalvin Phillips (proven at Leeds and for England), Bony, Mangala and Wayne Bridge were all better players than Rico Lewis, Rico is so bad he probably doesn’t start at Southampton. The way he gets bullied in midfield is almost comical. Also Garcia, Ben Haim played like 30 games for city combined, so they’re not in this debate. The 3 players I could say you could ARGUE are worse than Rico are Jo, Corradi and Benji, and that is because you’re going back 15 years..once again Rico is the worst player to play for us regularly (80+ apps) in a long time. Don’t forget He has waaaay less pressure to deliver because he is a youth product too, but he’s still frustrating. The further he is away from the starting line up, the more likely we’ll win.

Ellaquim Mangala
Tal Ben Haim
Stefan Savic
Jack Rodwell
Scott Sinclair
Wilfried Bony
Nolito
Jo
Roque Santa Cruz

I'm not claiming he's played well this season and now there's game film of him in the PL, his weaknesses are being caught out. Its his responsibility to iron those out of his game, but the above are all post takeover players and I'd take Rico over any of them from their time at City.

I would add Nastasic to that list. Id have Rico over him.

There is no one worse from Peps time at the club who has played as much as Rico(Nolito barely played same with Phillips) but we havent had many bad players since Pep took over, the bar is extremely extremely high someone has to be the worst. I am not a fan of Rico but there is room for him the squad for us absolutely. More John O Shea than Cleverly or whatever Rag players were mentioned.

Let’s not forget the leg end that is Georgios Samaras. If I remember correctly he went on strike to force a move to us and then forget to end his strike action whilst he was with us.

20-years-old.
I remember last season, and many have forgotten, how poster after poster called for him to replace Walker because he was, for some time, significantly better, especially moving into midfield and even the attacking areas of the pitch. Now, for reasons unbeknown to me, in a team filled with underperforming players through injury, illness, and absence, he is the one singled out by so many whom, in my view, should know better and should remember that he is, as yet, a prospect making his way in the professional game at the absolute elite level. Good luck, Rico, and thanks for your contribution thus far.

Excellent post 100% agree.

Confidence-boosting little cameo last night. He's perfect for those wall passes (although, there is an argument that any professional footballer should be able to do that) to keep us ticking over and manage a game out. Plus, it got The Ginger Prince, who looks more pragmatic (releived?) about being taken off these days, off corner-taking duty.

In this new triple deep CM system, I can see a role for Lewis here.

He isnt much of an offensive threat, so playing that 8 role that Gundogan did in the past probably isnt in his locker.

And this role probably requires less physicality than our RB spot, im not sure he can do the running Nunes provides.

Played well after a nervy start but I’m not convinced anyone knows his best position. It’s certainly not at right back.

Chasing shadows for a lot of the opening, Allows pep to switch up through so many formations mid game without a sub though. 4231,433,316,3241 think we tried them all at one point today. Will always give him the benefit of the doubt when asked to be the one moving all the time.
